When they playing the board game at the beginning all I can think of is Game of Zones with Simmons, Mitchell, and Tatum playing NBA 1K
Man I’m gonna miss that series!

2:52 Kawhi: "It's 70 degrees and sunny

Weather Channel: "It's 110 degrees here, and you can't see the sun for all the smoke and ash from 3, 000 forest fires."

Why did I just realize the roll at the beginning was the same as Kawhi's game winning bounce

While this series looks good and this episode had funny references, is still quite difficult not to compare with GoZ. Mainly because both shows address the same themes, and both were/are published in BR. I don't get when people say "GoZ is done, get over it", because while rationally that's true, as I said, both shows take on the same theme so comparison is inevitable.

Having said that, I think the main difference is that the GoT world setting offered really great analogies with NBA that this show can't quite grasp. The biggest example is that in this episode they're talking about conference semifinals while in GoZ they would've been talking about battles. There were endless details like this that made GoZ truly wonderful (rookie/squire; franchises/houses; GM/lords; players/knights; press/maesters; tweets/ravens; championships/throne; etc).

I also disagree with the idea that because the GoT show ended GoZ must end too because no source material. That's just ridiculous. In it's last season, GoZ had a huge worldbuilding to make stories on their own. The references to actual GoT plots were scarce and most of the greatest moments of the series didn't have direct correlation with them (kings/suns merger, the Harden-Westbrook duel, DeMar's sacrifice for Kawhi, etc):

All respect for the creators for having decided to end GoZ, and all respect for this creators for this show, but still, GoZ is and will be missed as the gold standard for cartoon NBA shows. Hope someday, somehow, it comes back. Like the Dream Team.

"I blew up my team to play with him."

Nah, fam. Damian Lillard blew up that team for you to play with him.

Really cool man! Thanks Bleacher for some love to Toronto. Having said that, is there any plans to continue Game of Zones? Love those episodes.

Stranger Things mixed with the NBA is just amazing. Huge fan of both.
