Technique is just a matter of physical condition and practice. So, it is getting loose with age.
But it will take an eternity for someone else to reach Efren's feel for the pool game. Pure genius.

In my observations I for one, Efren's edge with any other player is that he knows pretty well the path of his cue ball. His cue ball safely travels around the table and seldom bump a ball that may snooker himself. He seldom get scratch and his cue ball control help him most to a safety situation.
He has great concentration in every game even tho he is behind in game scoring.
In his race to 120 played for 3 days in Hongkong with Strickland in the last 3rd day of the game was 84-111. He came up with a 117 tie and finished with 120-117.
27 racks behind is really disheartening to some players but not Efren. For me, that's just AWESOME!

The Maestro hustlin' in the neighborhood! Almost 80 percent of billiard halls here are not air conditioned. Most of the time crowded, poorly lit, slow cloth and sometimes noisy making it very humid. These factors demand a higher level of concentration and consistency. Efren got used to this while mastering the game.

Efren Reyes, or the magician, did not gain his exquisite and unique proficiency from nothing. He started playing pool since he was 8 y/o and now he's 65 y/o (dated today) which means he has been playing pool for 57 years (born August 26, 1954).

Efren has mastered the entire pool table angles, strikes force, unimaginable control and precision on the cue ball, and a very high self-confidence with absolutely no vanity (He's very humble and friendly by the way).

Two more things about Efren Reyes, he has never underestimated any opponent, and he has never neglected the calculation of any hit no matter how easy the ball is.
