"Efforts Towards Inductive Precontact Archaeological Site Predictive Modeling within South Dakota". Alexander T. Anton's presentation on predictive modeling efforts in South Dakota.

Abstract: The South Dakota State Historical Society, Archaeological Research Center and members of Minnesota State University, Mankato& EARTH Systems Laboratory are attempting to complete a pilot inductive precontact archaeological site predictive model for a portion of southeastern South Dakota. South Dakota archaeological site predictive modeling project intends to make use of statistical and modeling data generation methods employed for MnModel Phase 4 with digital geospatial base data available for South Dakota. This pilot predictive model provides an opportunity to attempt to apply inductive archaeological site predictive modeling techniques used for Minnesota within a different state and to develop a template for archaeological site predictive modeling in South Dakota.

This talk was given at the 2024 South Dakota Archaeological Society (SDAS) Annual Meeting at Augustana University in Sioux Falls on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
