When I went looking for a shotgun microphone for my camera, I knew I wanted a mic that would not just do the job in capturing ambient audio, but also serve as a comprehensive audio solution for interviews, talking heads, etc. Packed with a number features in a body and design that in many ways bears similarity to the Rode NTG 5 microphone, the VideoMic NTG is a versatile mic that has become one of my most-used pieces of audio gear, particularly as someone that does a lot of second shooting and run-and-gun type filmmaking.
