She did this before social media. No new subscribers, just true passion. Respect

Not only is this woman an absolute idol, but can we also appreciate all the volunteers who kept her efforts going by resupplying her food and water? This wss such a win for humanity.

I’ve been to this tree. It’s a sacred place to the locals. Thank goodness for Humboldt State University (now CalPoly) who cranks out a lot of marine biologists, environmentalists, forestry scientists, and general people who care about the environment. What she did was nothing short of remarkable!

Omg!!! I haven’t seen her on the media in years! I got to be on a one-on-one zoom call with Ms. Hill a few years ago when I was 9, I read her book and later visited the redwoods in Califonia! She’s been a huge inspiration in my life so far!

She sacrificed herself and her hezlth to do this brave deed ! You can see that after that length of time aloft, her legs don't have the muscle strength to support her. She just crumpled to the ground, and I know she had months of recovery afterwards. And to knoe she did this twice !!! What a strength resides in her heart and mind. Her commitment is phenomenal. Love to Julia Butterfly Hill.

I remember this woman. It was the first and only time I've ever heard of someone with such passionate commitment

I hate that there are so many ignorant people who do not value what has existed for centuries. This this tree is old, and deserves to exist and not be destroyed for profit.

My uncle saved 115 huge Live Oak trees that a city official scheduled to be cut down. The trees were over 100 years old and expected to live hundreds of years longer.
He said there was a borer in 120 trees.
Uncle gathered a huge amount of protestors to stop the destruction until they could have a certified arborist examine each tree.
Turned out only 5 trees had borers.
They were cut down and destroyed.
That was 26 years ago and the 115 healthy trees still stand, majestic
and beautiful.
Thanks Uncle Bob.

The "Respect your elders" written made me respect her and the volunteers involved even more. If it wasn't for those kind of people, humanity would only learn the importance of the marvelous beings that trees are, after they were mostly dead.

as a yurok native from the red woods, I really respect her protecting our ancient trees, in our culture we may not harm or cut the trees. we have to wait until they fall naturally and then thank them for their contribution to our buildings and boats.

Her “respect your elders” sign says it all. I just saw giant redwoods for the first time a few months ago. They’re truly a sight to behold!

Edit: never had so many likes, thanks ya’ll!
