I'm Australian. I used to tutor a new migrant from Ukraine because she wanted to improve her English. I happened to be there one night when her family was celebrating a birthday. They insisted I stay for dinner. The food was delicious! I ate so much that I practically waddled out of there 😅

In Poland we have the same kind of food 🇵🇱 In our language Borsht is Barszcz, Holubtsi is Gołąbki and Verenika is Pierogi.

As a Canadian/American of Ukrainian descent, it was wonderful to see these wonderful men trying Ukrainian food! Something I never thought you could find in Pakistan! The three dishes you served are probably the most popular and so delicious. The varenyky dumplings I prefer stuffed with potatoes and cheese served with melted butter, fried onions and sour cream. I'm glad the men enjoyed the food. Hlory to Ukraine! Slava Ukraini!

When the Ukrainians went to other countries to train on military equipment their main complaint was '"Not enough soup!". Apparently they really love their soup there. Considering how cold it gets there, a hot bowl of hearty soup and freshly baked bread on a winter day would be just the thing to warm you up. Normally is contains pork and beef, but beef alone (or lamb which I don't like) would be just fine.

thanks for the video, also in Ukraine, usually a spoonful of sour cream is added to the borscht and additionally there is garlic next to it, which can be bitten while you eat the borscht), you can also add sour cream to verenika and golobtsi.
also in Ukraine, varenika have many different fillings, in my family they are most often made with cheese, or cherries, or blueberries.
in general, sour cream is added to many dishes in Ukraine

My neighbor is from overseas and recently brought me a bowl of Borscht he prepared. It was delicious. I love beets though. Some people wont try just for that reason, but it tasted like beef soup with veggies. 😊
