Like you, I upgraded from a smaller Sony camcorder. I keep the old one handy as it usually fits in a pocket without too much trouble. I've been using the AX53 for about 18 months and love it. Shoot a lot of RC airplane stuff with it. Study the manual as it has some interesting and quirky features. You made a good choice.

Sounds like you scored a nice upgrade. I was wondering why you didn't go for one of those fancy new still cameras that shoot video, as that seems to be the trend now. Then I noticed on your whaling expeditions that your partner was carrying what looked a high-end slr. Just wondered how that influenced your decision on your purchase.

Nice! Yes, wind noise has been a problem in your videos. This will be an excellent improvement to your otherwise fantastic channel.

you should try to take the videos in 4K and then scale it down to 1080p or just than them in 1080p but I would try scaling it down and see how you like it. I use Final cut Pro but there might be other editing software packages that will allow you to do the same

Thanks for the info on the cam. Suggestion... don't spin the cam around quite so fast and pause for a bit between moving. Just makes for a much better viewing experience. for us all.

Looks like a great addition. I use the Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone. One nice thing is that it takes power from the camera so no batteries needed, or forget, or ON/OFF switch to forget to turn on. Don't ask me how I know about all those ways to do it wrong!
