I realized after I forgot to mention that In order to change your metabolism or abilities on official servers you must now be in a homecave to do it.

Some of my own little tips I discovered after 5 days of playing
1. There are friendly Dino's out there that want to help quest, just be careful
2. When you are small avoid open areas (avoid them even when big if you don't like a fight). Stick to the trees and bushes, avoid doing quests in open areas, rest in bushes.
3. Don't run everywhere, you never know when you're gonna need that stamina to avoid being killed
4. Use a resource map, it helps A LOT
5. If you must run everywhere keep an eye on your stamina, you don't want to get to a waystone with low stam only to realise there's a camper
6. Keep moving, don't stay in one area too long, just do the quest and get going, the longer you're there the higher the chance someone will come along.
7. If you are a herbivore, NEVER trust a carnivore, they are always lying
8. All packys are ass holes and it only takes two to destroy any herbivore, even a triceratops.

Rule number one: Do NOT roar when alone.

All I got to say it’s not about running faster than the hostile players, it’s about running faster your group members and surviving for another in game day.

To calculate actual damage take attacker's weight ÷ victim's weight. That is your multiplier. Take you base damage and multiply it by your multiplier.

For example, an deinonycus bites an allo, Deinon weights 1000 and allo weighs 4000, 1000÷4000= .25. Deinon's bite does 50 base damage, so 50×.25=12.5 damage per bite to allo. Allo has 700 health so 700÷12.5= 56 bites to kill an allo as deinon. (Hard solo, easy in a pack)

Allo turns around and bites deinon, 4000÷1000=4. Allo's bite does 60 base damage, 60×4=240 damage so 240 damage per bite from allo to deinon. Deinon has 500 health so 500÷240=2.08 bites to kill a deinon.

Easy peasy!

When it comes to semi-realism servers, I vastly prefer them. I play on Nat Hist, which is a small server made and run by people who actually work in the paleontology field.

The rules are simple enough - no mix packing (varied herb herds are fine), party limits so you don't have like 5 apexes together, etc etc. There are also engagement rules for combat so you're discouraged from mass-hunting if you're not hungry, stop combat if a body goes down, and you must stay with a body you hunted until you're done eating it or chased off of it.

Some servers also have designated 'safe zones' which encourage interaction for players who might just want to vibe, or a place you can park your dino without worry if you need to AFK for a bit.

Most of it is common sense stuff so it's rarely something you feel like you need a whole manual open on another screen to make sure you're not screwing up. There aren't any hyper-specific behavior profiles for each dino, but gameplay is encouraged towards "play in a way that makes sense".

I think one thing you missed about community servers is that many of them hold events! These can be super fun and encourage people to play dinos they normally wouldn't, such as having a herd of less-often-played herbs migrating across the map and the goal being to survive being hunted by another party of players while working as a group, or the challenge of taking down a huge dino with a group of only deinons.

Thanks for these videos!
I’ve been playing just a couple of weeks now on PS5 and these have helped me loads.
I grew Allo first too, currently working on a Metri.

They need to do a bit more for growth.

Some passive. Maybe based on eating or killing in general.

ONLY growing via quests is awful on some Dino’s like sarco which are slow AF on land.

9:09 on official servers, you cannot change your diet unless you're in the home cave.

Bonus tip for changing diet, the faster metabolism is a benefit to if you're still trying to grow because it gives you the "find food" quest at shorter intervals because you get hungry sooner.

YMMV, some dinos lose food very quickly and it might be more annoying than helpful for the quicker eat quest.

Also another thing to take not of is that if you play mobile do NOT expect your graphics to be as good as in the videos

This was a very helpful video. A friend got me Into this game and she told me some of what you mentioned, but alot of it I learned on my own.

I also joined a few PoT Facebook groups and have been getting help there.

When my friend isn't on to play with, I've been growing a different Dino on my own.

I've been finding that the Multi-player/official servers are hit and miss with toxic players and friendl players. I've had days where I can't get out of the juvi stage cuz every player I encounter kills me on sight even when they're not a carni. Then I've had days where I can play for hours without being killed cuz the other players just wanna quest. It's really a 50/50 😂

I'm just happy we have OCE servers for Australians to play. Me and my friends tried The isle and Day Of Dragons but theres only like 4 people playing. Jumped on an official server and to have like 90 people playing changes the game completely. So fun

One thing with this game, as I've been playing for a few months, I absolutely love the game but I do feel as if it's not the most balanced as some dinosaurs are just significantly better than others in every size group but other than that it is an insanely fun game especially for a console player it's a nice change of style

Something ive learned which probably aplies to nature as well is to find a good place to hide and grow as a juvenile. If you try interacting with adults who aren't your friends or questing with you they will be gunning for you just for kicks.

correction about changing your dino diets as herbi (or for carni too etc ) like he showed here, you cant change you abilities and so diets on officials if you arent in a homecave while on community servers they allow player to change them by just laying down and sleeping wherever they are on the map and so dont need to go for homecave

I'm having fun and documentary immersion in semi-realism experience servers and that's my taste play.
And thanks for the tips, I just recently learn I can switch Diet mode as a herbivore when I can't find anything to eat. While before I keep dying esp. when I'm not familiar yet the spots for berries, melons and bananas too.

On the isle, realism servers usually have a one carcass rule, meaning that during a hunt, when someone dies, the hunt stops until the carcass is fully eaten. That's because IRL when, let's say lions, go hunting and get a kill, they don't keep chasing the herd, they already have their meal. Now, another group of predators usually needs to fight for the carcass, but that varies, some allow a carcass per group/species, but usually it's just one. Now that diet is a big part of feeding the rules changed a bit, like cannibalism is restricted to some species due to diet, so they can hunt for decent prey.

Well said on combat weight

To make it much easier to understand, imagine being a juvie sarco getting trampled by a adult Trike.

So, hopefully i can get a reply. Trying to get into this game. Playing on Xbox Series. Is the $30 Founders Version enough to let me play the full game & get all the Dinos?
