China vs Japan: Why Japan is Preparing for War?
Показать описание
Why is Japan preparing for war? The country’s recent military build-up can be largely attributed to its perceived threat from China, which has been increasing its naval and air activities in the region, something Japan sees as a direct threat to its security.
Japan's defense strategy has been shifting from a purely defensive posture –which began after its defeat in WWII– to a more proactive one, with the acquisition of new capabilities such as aircraft carriers, stealth fighters, and long-range missiles. Japan has also been strengthening its alliances, particularly with the United States, as a means of countering China's influence.
Additionally, Japan's domestic politics have played a role in the country's preparations for war. Ex-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated last year, had a long-standing ambition to revise Japan's pacifist constitution to allow for a more assertive military posture, something his two successors have continued.
But what do you think? Is a full-scale war between China and Japan likely to occur, or will the two countries be able to maintain peaceful relations? Let us know in the comments.
