'Hauling-house' in Newfoundland and Labrador

This traditional practice gives a whole new perspective to the term 'moving house.' Decades ago, it wasn't an uncommon sight to see a house floating or house-haul due to resettlement among the outport communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. Ready for a challenge, a group from Twillingate recently decided to revive the tradition as part of the Fish, Fun and Folk Festival. Banding together, they successfully hauled a more than 100-year-old house across the water to its new home.
