In this video I review the NEMO Dragongly 1 person tent for bikepacking:

I have been using this tent for nearly a year - all over the world.

Basic Pros:

1. Pretty light (1200g)
2. Really spacious inside
2. Cool design with loads of storage space
3. Packs down very small

Basic Cons:

1. Very costly
2. Not as light as some other tents (the hornet or Alpkit Ultra)

The search for a rock solid, massive when pitched, tiny when packed, tent that costs £199 goes on 😂 Thanks for the review

little late to the party here - but man do I love this tent. I have the 2p in CND. has not failed me. easy to put up and take down ... if you can swing it, worth the investment

What an incredibly well filmed and edited video and review. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing and nice to see your travel footage within the review as well; always great to see someone actually using the tent. :) Keep up the good work!

I love my Nemo Dragonfly Osmo 2p and I agree with everything you say.

Great review, I just brought one in the sale for €400 reduced from €600 without doing any research so this video was reassuring to watch.

You released this just 7hrs ago and timed perfectly having spent the past 3 evenings looking at reviews of this vs msr hubba hubba 2p bikepacking. I'd literally just decided on this and price is a put off

I really like my Terranova Pioneer2 for bikepacking. 1.95kgs not by any means light, but then not crazy heavy. The added bonus for me is I know if I can only stop in very exposed terrain, it can cope. Plus I can get all my gear excluding my bike inside the tent with me. So no worries about anything getting wet.

This Nemo tent though looks like a cracking tent. Pricey at £240 more than I got my Pioneer for. But then like you said tiny pack size, good weight and very waterproof.

Until something is significantly under a kg, as solid and not costing the earth. My pioneer is staying put. I do love videos like this as clearly you’ve tested it properly

Great rivier man!
Thank you very much
I have never really understood the gigantic cut out on the fly
Whats your opinion on that specific design on many nemo tent?
Guess it makes for better ventilation cause the wind has a larger surface to hit and then go through the tent but i big piece of ground fabric is also heavier then flysheet and and cathing alot of wind without a decent way to keep the tention on it also sounds like a flaw?

Greetings from the Netherlands!

It was always a battle between the dragonfly and the copper spur for me. I opted for the copper spur. It was awful when i was hit with a freak thunderstorm. The rain got through and everything was soaking in the morning. Got to love scotland! It was interesting that you covered how the dragonfly performed in adverse weather. Might have to trade in the copper spur for the dragonfly 😂.

Almost identical to my Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 bikepack tent, which was about £150 cheaper, but still pricey. My mantra has always been “If you’re going to use it, buy the best for your needs that you can afford”. I’ve long forgotten the few sacrificed coffees, beers and supermarket treats needed to justify the extra 100-150 to buy my one.

Great informative video. I own a TarpTent. One pole - 750 grams. I don’t see mine listed in Tarp Tents inventory anymore. But there are plenty of others on Tarp Tents site to choose from. Handmade in USA. (I’m Canadian)

The price is pretty high and that is a fair point of a con. But with a lifetime warranty if anything happens to it Nemo has you covered. I've even seen them if they couldn't fix it just give the customer the newer gear in return. Though the big draw back for the warranty is that it does take a good bit of time. When my Dagger rainfly was torn by a deer it took them over a month to process the request and fix it. A month where I couldn't use the tent. But if you have more than one tent then it isn't a bad trade.

I put 3000km of bikepacking with this tent in various weather conditions and my main concern : I often had a lot of condensation on the fly and on the "single wall" locate on the head ...I 'm lucky to be no tall and no touch with my sleeping bag this single wall.... still a great tent with great features (landing zone, pockets....). I'm steel looking for a 2P ultralight for more confortable on long trip.... Thks for your review

I have to agree about the weight. I have the 2 person version, as a solo bikebacker on a multi week trip i sent mine home because of the weight and switched to my old Big Agnes Copper Spur. I’m seeing more of the BA 2 person bikepacking tent on trail with the solo bikepackers . It seems much lighter - thinner material

Nice tent.
The MSR Hubba NX Bikepack is one I would recommend though. More solid inner tent material and you can hang the clothes inside during the night.

I wanted to buy one of these when they came out but noticed that the flysheet only has 3 sides. I assumed that this was the California version, no good for the UK weather that I camp in, spindrift would be all over me ☹️

Alpkit Ultra eh? 🤔 Thanks very much for that heads up, I'd not heard of one, I'll have a look at your review shortly.
Cheers ⛺🙂👍

I’ve used my Nemo dragonlfy 2p tent bike version several times in the past year and have a few issues aside from price. 1. too many plastic clips for pole ends, prefer metal. 2. vestibules spread out too much and take too much plot space for kayak camping in a group. 3. the top vents are poorly designed and get in the way of the zippers. 4. it’s too heavy at 1.8kg with groundsheet and bike bag, 4. the high fly opening on one side catches the wind. 5. the shape is too narrow at the feet and impossible to use two rectangular mattresses. I still like the tent a lot, but I would have preferred a Durston 2P that better addresses all the above issues and weighs 1/2 kg less.

Best part about that tent is the drab color. For people who really adventure tour, being conspicuous in a neon tent is a liability. Big Agnes would have the market if they could keep improving what they had rather than keep switching gimmicky plastic for the sake of change.
The seedhouse sl2 coulda been the perfect tent if they'd just keep improving and lightening.
A freestanding tent is worth a couple extra ounces. Simplify, lighten, improve. Instead they added gimmicks for the sake of change.

I was looking for the Nemo Hornet Osmo 1p, because of the small pack size, but I am a bit worried how it is performing in stormy situations.
Has anyone compared these two in harsh weather? Cheers

You're over 6ft and this is sufficient? I struggle to find tents where (including mat and bag) I dont touch the walls with my head and toes....
