Marthe Neville's "After Midnight," first published in The Black Mask magazine in August 1920, is a seminal work of pulp fiction that encapsulates the genre's essence with its suspenseful and psychologically complex narrative.
The narrative probes deep into themes of deception, the corrupting influence of power, and the ethical limits of scientific research.
the story shares traits with other mystery and thriller works, such as Agatha Christie's complex characters, Edgar Allan Poe's psychological depth, Arthur Conan Doyle's scientific intrigue, noir fiction's narrative structure, Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler's themes of justice.

I enjoy older literature as the tone and description is so well done. Thank you

The AI reader isn't bad, I'm sure in time it will improve. Its just the lapse in the flow of a word or sentence that needs improvement

I feel like every time someone comments to complain about an AI voice on FREE content, they should disclose their age.

Don’t want a discussion with an AI reader

In the middle of the book, they repeatedly go over the same points over and over again! It's really slowing down the plot and excitement! Ugh!

Not well read! If there is a human being reading, he should make that clear
