I am Cambodian/Khmer & the recovery of these statues are very important. It is true that it is more than just art. These statues are a reminder of the strength, greatness, beauty & resiliency of our Cambodian/Khmer ancestors.

Right away I was surprised to learn Cambodia has the biggest issue with antiquities being looted. I wasn't exactly taking bets on it, but that wouldn't have been my first or 15th guess.

The shot of Prasat Pram (around 1:31) stopped me in my tracks. I had to pause the video to appreciate that view. It reminds me of a series of images I have for my desktop themes called "Reclaimed by Nature." Just stunning.

Sotheby's absolutely should have known better! Shame on them! 😂 I was so glad to hear that not everyone behaved badly, lol. I do hope more looted art resurfaces for study and/or are returned where they belong.

The antique business has always been one of the most despicable historically. It still is. This intertwining of money and amusement, mixed in with a false sense of culture and prestige and a need to own curious and beautiful objects has caused enormous cultural destruction ironically in name of art and culture.
