This video introduces the idea of finding the exponential function when a table of coordinate points is given.
The general strategy for finding the equation of the exponential function is to use the two points to compare the function to the general equation. Essentially, the starting value, a, needs to be found by looking at when x = 0 and from there the base, b, can be found by looking at a second point from the table. To find the base, notice that as the x values increase by one, the y values are multiplied by the base. An equation can be used to determine the value of b.
The equation can be checked by plugging in both the points from the table into the formula to see if the correct function values or y values are returned.
