Four shootings in 24 hours in Tampa sparks talk about safety

It's been a busy first 24 hours of 2025 for Tampa-area law enforcement as agencies are investigating multiple shootings.

Just more than an hour before the start of the new year, a security officer was shot while Tampa police said he tried to break out a fight involving minors.

My father was a security guard that was shot that night. He was born and raised in Tampa, so was I my mama wasn’t I just lost both my parents and under the span of a year after I told them both I wanted them to leave Tampa please don’t listen to the Tampa police they don’t even help when we call them, I think this place is dangerous and it’s going to get worse and everybody should leave before you end up like me. I’m literally an orphan now at age 20 because my dad was trying to help kids. I want you to keep that in mind my mother was a sweet person And this ruined her and now me and my siblings on both of my families are growing up with this huge hole in our families

Tampa is a beautiful city, great nightlife, great but. We all know what the problem is but none dare speak its name. More and more people are moving out to the beach and commuting. Driving over the Howard Frankenstein Bridge twice a day is a small price to pay for your family's safety.

I was there at John Germany library around 6pm then Riverwalk and Channelside and University of Tampa parking around 8pm December 31, 2024. It was calm then. Then I went to Ybor City.
