Amazon EKS Auto Mode Overview and Difference with Fargate

AWS release Amazon EKS Autonomous Mode (EKS Auto) which manages many components for you. Though this sounds similar to EKS Fargate, there are major differences. In this video we will go over what is EKS Auto, why do we need it, and differences with EKS Fargate.

Awesome explanation about EKS Auto mode. It would be great if you could add pricing details as well.

Thanks, Raj, for the great video!

I have a question, AWS mentions that they manage add-ons like CoreDNS, EBS CSI, kube-proxy, and VPC CNI. But on Day 2, I still see these add-ons displayed in the AWS Console. Why is that? Does it make sense for them to be shown post-deployment? Are they required in hybrid compute scenarios? Could you share a use case where explicitly managing these add-ons would be necessary?

Great video very informative 🎉 It would be great if you can show practically how to setup karpenter in kubernetes cluster so that everyone feel comfortable in using karpenter

Awesome video Sir 🔥. By the way I have one question is your aws sa bootcamp for beginners or a fresher with minimal knowledge looking for an amazing content to learn?

Awesome video Raj!
I have a requirement where non-prod should be spot and on-demand, while prod should use on-demand nodes. We’ve purchased 3-year RIs for M7i and R families and would like to run general purpose nodes using those instance types. What would the options be in EKS Auto?

Thank you Raj, always helpful ! One of my clients has a little infra that receives sometimes big spikes of traffic. I am split between EKS +Karpenter + KEDA (for pods & EC2 worker nodes scaling) OR AWS Fargate. You said EKS with Fargate does not remove new pods and that seems weird for me. I think EKS Auto is the right way to reduce operationnal overhead for my client. What do you think ? Should I stick with Fargate or EKS auto mode ? Thanks !

Thanks, Raj. One quick question, EKS Auto Mode clusters are upgraded automatically right ? If so, why is the upgrade option still provided for this type cluster? Is it for flexibility, or is there another reason?

Can existing EKS cluster converted to EKS Auto ?

Does EKS auto costs anything extra other than the underlying infra like the the ec2 nodes ? I couldn't get clarity on the costs of the auto service in the official documentation
