Te Rehutai - Sailing at 50 Knots

With the blink of an eye, two months sailing Te Rehutai in Auckland has gone in a flash.
It may not seem like much- but the testing and development benefits has far exceeded the expectations for the team. But now, it is time for the great migration of Te Rehutai for a long northern summer ahead getting used to the unique characteristics of the waters to Barcelona.

As an Aussie, I'm proud that after 132 years of United States dominance, we came along in 1983 and showed they could be beaten, in part by an ingenious keel design. New Zealand then went that idea of great design and took it to an INSANE aerospace level! Their boats are more planes than boats!! Well done brothers. You deserve every victory! Good luck in 2024 against our shared brothers and sisters in the United Kingdom.

For those who don’t know the foils on each side of the boat are controlled by computers sampling the data off a multitude of sensors at 10s of thousands times a second. This type of hydrofoil yacht has only really been possible in the last 10 or so years due to how hard it is to control the foils’ leading edge at the speeds and loads it’s experiencing
