Imagine this…
It’s autumn of 2002, you get invited by the devs making Wind Waker to test the final build before release, they give you a controller and leave you for 44 minutes.
When they come back they expect you to maybe sailing off on the boat from Outset island where they would offer some advice as to what to do… but instead see you sticking the master Sword into Ganondorf’s forehead and end credits start to roll.
You drop the controller, refuse to elaborate, thank them and leave.

Wind waker never stops blowing. It's so grateful to speedrun a game knowing that it wasn't forgotten with the time!

Linkus has a superpower for making me so incredibly invested in this speedrunning community Everytime he uploads. These are such cool games and it's been crazy to see them evolve over the years

It's pretty cool how both versions have completely different glitches and routes yet end up beating the game in almost the exact same amount of time.

I would watch an 8-hour video of every change in Wind Waker Any% in the past 11 years tho.

I remember growing up watching every new discovery happen, keeping up with you and gymnast, the story of this game is so surreal, I'm so happy that we still talk about one of my favorite games as if it had just came out, Wind Waker's story is never over

It's extremely interesting how 2 completely different versions with completely different glitches ended up having speedruns so neck and neck

I love this style of video! There’s something uniquely inspiring about speedrunning. It’s like watching an Olympic world record- something impressive that takes a ton of practice. It feels very human to push a number smaller and smaller, just to see how optimized it can become. To make the impossible possible. And the community aspect of it the video mentioned is great: people working together, more than just competing for the lowest times, out of love for a game.

I love how much Linkus gestures when he explains something without a controller in his hands.

Dude just give your throat a rest already. I respect the commitment, but your voice is likely your main tool of the trade, along with your hands.

legendary video, I'm freaking compelled. I might actually start doing ww speedruns with my emulator now! Edit: I just checked the speedrun rules, but ill probably be really bad so I won't be needing to buy a console to speedrun any time soon.

Hey linkus7! When I was learning to run WWHD back in 2017, you were they guy i watched for tutorials. You were also the guy who raided me just before i got affiliate on twitch back in 2018. I never was able to beat your times, but i had a blast running this game and the amazing journey that speedrunning brought me on. I met so many people and had so many good memories from streaming. Thank you for continuing to be committed to amazing quality content as the video was very well done. Keep it up!

On the other hand, Wind Waker HD 100% has the Gamecube WW 100% beat by over an hour. The quality of life improvements make a huge difference when you have to collect everything. Also, the Japanese Triforce quest sounds funny... the first time you do it. I can imagine it detracts from replayability, though. It reminds me of the cringeworthily tedious General White quest from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
