The fact that it's permanent bans and removes your ability to play online at all is what I hate about it, I wouldn't hate it as much if it was an opt in "don't allow players on the ban list but they can play servers that opt out" and at max 1 month bans for chat violations.

One thing I love is that they mention human moderation, like server moderation doesn’t already exist

They wanted to add a system that would let the subjective opinion of one person have the power to permanently ban any and all people that person encounters and give no power for server owners or moderators to decide otherwise. There is no way to handle that well.

This is already such a disaster. People are already getting banned for no reason, exploiters are using hacked clients to mass report people and get them automatically banned, etc.

Getting banned from Realms is whatever. Getting banned from multiplayer as a whole is unreasonable and awful. But them not automatically cancelling your Realms and not being able to play the game you bought and paid for at all? That's just straight up disgusting, and should be illegal if it isn't already.

Just stay away from multiplayer until this nonsense is resolved, it's too risky.

The solution is simple. Let servers moderate themselves like they have for the last decade. Don’t do half yearly updates. Add all three mobs from the votes and perhaps, just a small suggestion, *listen to the community*

I hate to admit this but I feel like this is slowly becoming the downfall of Minecraft, mojang is doing too much its hurting the community and the approach they are taking is not a good one, im sad to say this but I feel that if mojang continues down this path its gonna lead to the eventual failure of the game

they should remove the feature in whole, its obvious no one likes it, let server owners/moderators moderate their own server, we don't need Mojang/Microsoft stepping in, they should stop trying to fix something that doesn't need fixing.

So myself and 3 of my 4 kids play minecraft. Watching my kids play multiplayer, I can see this is going to end horribly. If they think a bunch of emotionally immature kids are not going to thoroughly abuse this, oh boy!!

“No one can tell you what you can or can not do. With no rules to follow, this adventure is up to you”.

This is so unnecessary. The community has managed fine over a decade without these features, why do we need this all of a sudden?

They should remove it altogether, it’s clear that nobody in the community wants it.

I'm just going to avoid servers until this isn't so messy. I don't wanna risk getting banned from Minecraft at all 😭 I also think Microsoft is the real owner of Minecraft and causing such issue here. The insane amount of money grabs is a telltale sign of a massive company taking over and/or getting greedy.

I would absolutely argue Microsoft and Mojang are entirely out of their rights, to moderate community servers in this way, period. They are not the ones paying for server space. They are not the ones running it day-to-day. This was never a "game for kids" (except Education Edition), it just happens to have been a game kids were drawn to. The rest of the community should not be forced to suffer because Microsoft wants to pat themselves on the back for "protecting" the non-target audience from the rest of the audience.

...And actually, as an added point, regarding the fireflies thing, not all fireflies are in fact poisonous, and there are things that eat fireflies. Including frogs. In fact this is a major reason for *why* fireflies which *are* poisonous are as dangerous to some things as they are: because they are animals used to eating non-toxic cousins who aren't aware that the toxic ones even exist.

I wish they just had it under ‘parental controls’ like toycat said. It would make it SO MUCH EASIER
Or at least just make it work with Xbox Live as it has been on bedrock. It would make sence because of the ‘Java and Bedrock’

love how Mojang has no issues delaying features for years and splitting updates to get more time to work on it and just straight up canceling or going silent on promised features but when it comes to this absolutely hated banning system they want to get it out without delaying it to make it “better”

Every update will make some people angry, but that doesn't mean it's ok if some updates make everyone angry.

I remember when everyone was talking about the massive censorship library that was built in Minecraft. It included actual people talking about how oppressive their country was, including ranking on the amount of censorship in each country. It was a beautiful build and it helps spread awareness around the world.

though It's ironic to think that the censorship library cannot include the words Japan or Nigeria anymore : p

Edit: also Niger and Pakistan! (Thanks comments). any way is n*ghttime here and I gotta go to sleep good bye lol

Man, I have never seen so much anti-Mojang sentiment as I have now.
Usually when there's a bad decision made in Minecraft, people are usually quick to blame Microsoft.
However, ever since the Wild Update, it seems more and more people are now pointing fingers at Mojang instead.
This has just led to this time, the year of 2022, being one of the worst times to follow Minecraft news. It's nothing but controversy for the time being. Controversy which I hope Mojang/Microsoft/whoever's making the questionable decisions here will stop making by the time 1.20 rolls around (be it a big or small update).

Ideal solution. Add a block player feature and an OPTIONAL profanity filter.

Maybe have a opt-in mojang moderation system and the moderation is sever based not global unless very extreme circumstances such as constant hate speech and constantly hacking.

And if you are a banned globally, at least allow people to use singleplayer, or possibly LAN multiplayer. If banned permanently on global basis (which should be really hard to happen mind you), immediately cancel and refund realms subscription and offer game refunds.

Oh and if you are in singleplayer worlds, don't censor words even if the optional profanity filter is on.

I like how the current policy is "WE CAN'T RELEASE UPDATES UNLESS WE CAN UPDATE THEM ON BEDROCK AND JAVA AT THE SAME TIME NO MATTER WHAT FOR COHESION!".... and y'all still don't have off-hand items 🤣
