Fun fact. In that time period in the south. A casket handle was called a 'Hukkle' the main pallbearer was called a 'Hukkle' Bearer. This person would also stay at the grave until sunset which was when you were considered officially dead. Which begs the question. Did Doc Holiday (being from the south) actually tell Johnny Ringo " I'll be your hukkle bearer" ???

This Gorgeous Castle should be made into an exquisite hotel ! After restoration, This would be absolutely stunning to hold special events and weddings at ! It is a shame that so many of these stunning Castles and Mansions, are just left to deteriorate and end up being destroyed by a wrecking ball ! I hope they are able to finish fixing this gorgeous place up and turning it into something very special !

Oh my goodness. I was a military brat and grew up in Charleston and London. Then we moved back to NC, and the Biltmore estate is 45 minutes from home. So, I have a tremendous passion for historical houses. I would gladly coexist with some ghosties to live in such a grand home. I looked at their website, and the candlelight tour sounds incredible. Im glad someone is restoring this beauty.

That landing with the stained glass and the pew-like window seats I think is my favorite part of the house.

The house my mom grew up in was built in the 1800’s. My parents now own it and did a full remodel. The roof was weighed down with weights. No wonder we had to completely redo the roofline. It was sagging bad, windows and ceiling leaking. We also found old farm tools used as rebar when we replaced the outdoor window sills, old tintype photos, part of a shoe and more stuff buried around the yard right up near the house. Pretty cool.
