The WHO has identified the COVID-19 Variant "Omicron" as a variant of concern. For many this is an alarming headline, but it's important to remain alert, not anxious. So little is known about Omicron that there is no reason to panic. At the end of the day, your best defense against any variants is to get vaccinated. #alertnotanxious

Here in South Africa, in addition to reporting the strain, scientists have also said that the Omricron strain is not as severe.

Can we speak about how the gene sequencing was done in South Africa and that the variant was discovered by the South African medical teams but there is no evidence to support that it originated in South Africa? Also that there is evidence that the variant is more abundant in parts of Europe than in South Africa, yet South Africa have had travel bans imposed when other countries haven't?

im from SA and am both proud and angry at our scientists for dicovering this new variant. the variant was actually birthed in botswana and yet every country has shut us off because we are the ones who dicovered it

Correction : Is a new strain detected by South African scientists ! The strain was found in other countries aswell. South Africa & our scientists were honest with informing the world about it's new detection.
