The Swedish King and nobles wanted in to take Finland but parliament didn't. It's not so black and white like you said. The loss of Finland is still a blow to the Swedish at this point since Finland was seen as part of Sweden proper and not a colony.

I think that france allying Austria would make more sense if Napoleon III is stil in charge since he would still want the prestige and want the Rhineland and the Italian borderlands

yeah I mean if you want to prevent the Russian Empire, it's way too late for that by this point. You gotta like, prevent Peter the Great from ever taking the throne so Sweden wins, or at least doesn't lose, the Great Northern War, or some such scenario as that, where Russia can be fatally weakened earlier in the timeline.

The existence of so many more Romanians in Austria could alternatively lead to a weakened Hungary, with the Romanian minority in Hungary opposing Hungarian autonomy, strengthening the Croat minority in Hungary too, leading ultimately to a more equal federalisation of the Austrian empire. Without the Italian economic base, the nobles of Austria would be more inclined to fight Hungarian super-autonomy too.

Can't envisage a world where Austria is on the UK/French side, wins, & then concedes its Italian wealth & hegemony for guaranteed future conflict with the Ottoman & Russia with less defensible borders & a poorer economic base.

I really don’t see why the Austrians wouldn’t take Silesia if they beat the Prussians?

AltHist idea: what if the Spanish right didn't win the Spanish Civil War?

I see two possible scenarios that are not too unrealistic:
a) Anarchists and communists cooperate with the socialis/democratic governement, managing to defeat the militar sublevation
b) the CNT-PSOE split still happens, but France and the UK send volunteers to the republican governement, stalling the war until it merges with WW2

The Crimean War easily has to be one of the most impactful minor wars in history, there’s so much that came out of and could have come out of it

Bismarck would never simply hand Baltic territories for Russian neutrality since that is a terrible blackmail scenario for Prussia that Russia could use later to gain more territories (e.g., East Prussia and areas around Koenigsberg) just to maintain Russian neutrality in future conflicts. It would also jeopardize his position as chancellor if he didn’t get something similar in return besides short term neutrality. If it were how you speculated, then what guarantee does Prussia get if Prussia has a harder time unifying Germany than OTL? Russia stands to turn Prussia into a protectorate, and there is no Bismarck in that scenario. Rather, Bismarck would offer the Russians an exchange of territory at a minimum for prestige sakes. For example, the Baltic territories for Polish territory in western part of Congress Poland that also borders Austria and gives Prussia more advantage in a conflict with Austria. More likely, not all Baltic territories would be offered, especially Lithuania and Courland, but maybe up to Riga, which would’ve been a nice deal for Russia at this time. In this scenario, Bismarck maintains leverage over Russia and has the ability to provide non-German speaking territories for future bargains with Russia that make sense. This is how a great power buys neutrality in the late 1800s, not by offering ones territory without compensation in kind, which implies one is no longer a great power, but a lesser power, like Sardinia, that can be highly influenced or directly controlled.
