Impaled Nazarene is one of the early birds of Finnish black metal scene. "Suomi Finland Perkele" is their third album and very much a controversial one. Let's talk about it!

I agree with you about SFP. The first half is great. Impaled Nazarene are my most favourite band from Finland, they have unique sound that totally fits my taste. For me, Nihil and Pro Patria Finlandia are their best albums.

First thing I wanted to mention:
I actually think the re-recorded version of "Ghettoblaster" from the Enlightenment Process single sounds a lot better than the version on SFP. I'm generally not a fan of re-recordings but that one really clicks for me.

I wasn't much of a fan of the new version of "The Horny and the Horned" from the Goat of Mendes single. I also can't help but feel production on on single is the most generic "black metal" production the band has ever had. Not something I have a real problem with but the more punky/ thrashy sound always made them feel more unique to black metal for me. So I kinda hope the production on the album is tweeted a bit. That said, "Goat of Mendes" has really grown on me as a song anyway, so I feel very optimistic about the upcoming album.

As for my thoughts on SFP as a whole: I'm a big fan of Impaled Nazarene and would probably consider this one of their better albums. I couldn't pick a best but this is probably in the running, along with Ugra-Karma and Nihil. Their style changed a lot over the years and it definitely depends on my mood. I also gree that the first half of the album is stronger. The "Total War" cover that opens "Winter War" just gets more grating with subsequent listens. And I like "Blood is Thicker than Water" but always felt it killed the momentum a touch. As far as the second half goes... I love Kuolema Kaikille. Very short but great.

Well... that became a much longer comment than I intended.

Maybe do Tales from the Thousand Lakes?

SFP is a great album, at the same time I see why many fans prefer Ugra Karma and others. SFP somehow has a more "normal" sound in compare and unusual songs like "Blood is thicker than water".
I prefer Latex Cult above everything, but still SFP spins regularly at my place

You can't beat Ugra Karma. Only album from I.N. that I actually listen to these days. I have also sold all the other I.N. Lp's, singles, ep's and demos.

Impaled Nazarene is great but my favorite are their first two albums, I never liked this one as much as those ones and some of their later ones so I'm with you on this topic. Acheron cover of Total War is my favorite version of that song even more than NON.

Are their lots of metal heads around your area?

Ugra-Karma and Latex Cult are the ones for me, this comes third. Theres a Genocide, Total war - winter war and Quasb which are not so gems. Still this is one of those records that you pick from shelf and play when you have a beer in your hand.

SFP is a good album in my opinion, but not their best. I look forward to their new album, at least the Goat of Mendes EP sounded awesome!
