How to Use the Bosch Intuvia Electric Bike Display

The Bosch Intuvia display panel is one of the most widespread, highly used, electric bike interfaces. I personally appreciate how large the LCD is because it tends to be easy to read on a wide range of models, how adjustable it is for reducing glare or even removing when parking a bike outside, and that it has a five volt 500 milliamp Micro-USB charging interface built in. The display itself works in conjunction with a remote button pad that has an up, down, and i key for interacting with the display easily, you don’t have to remove your hands to press this button pad and that improves safety.

Basic interactions include:
- Pressing the power button to activate or de-activate the display
- Pressing + for increased levels of assist and - for less (there are five settings including Off, Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo)
- Pressing the i button repeatedly to cycle through trip stats (Odometer, Trip Distance, Estimated Range, Clock, Max Speed, Average Speed, Trip Time)
- Holding the Reset button to clear the Trip Distance menu
- Holding the Reset button along with the i button on the display to enter the settings menu (clock set, wheel circumference, language, units miles or kilometers, time format 12 or 24 hours, shift recommendation on/off, power on hours, display version, voltage, du version, service tracker, battery version)
- Pressing the Light button to activate or de-activate integrated lights (some Class 3 speed pedelec ebike models force the lights to be on at all times unless modified with the assistance of a shop)
- Pressing the Walk button on the bottom edge of the button pad and then holding the plus button for walk mode (some companies disable this, Trek is one of them)

Pros: can be swiveled or removed, includes a Micro-USB charging port, large and easy to read, easy to interact with, replaceable, if you have the Bosch CX motor the Intuvia lets you upgrade software and get eMTB mode which turns Sport level assist into a full-range assist for maximum efficiency without as many clicks and active management, the entire system is setup with CAN bus to make diagnostics easier (basically, the system can tell you what is wrong vs. making you guess and check)

Thank you so much! I didn't even know my bike had a walk assistance button! 😂 It was hiding all the time behind the plus and minus pad! 😆

Can you share what adapter cable you bought to use intuvia to charge phone? there are so many on amazon & they say stuff like micro2.0 to usb c or 2.0 or whatever its confusing not sure what to get???? would like to charge our samsung note 4 & note 8 from the display to at least keep it from going dead while out... thanks cort for all the great videos you do. (I did find a bosch/yamaha USB head unit converter but its not available? & from UK I'm in USA)
**UPDATE-for my Samsung note 4 I purchased from propel bikes in Brooklyn USB Charging cable (micro A-Micro B /Bosch#1270016360KCM-tested yesterday on long ride it worked for my note 4.

I ordered the bosch/Yamaha cable from UK HOPEFULLY it works w/hubbies note 8 Samsung he'll have to use another adapter from its USB to his phone.

I couldn't see how shift indicator works. Nice video. Also, I think I have read somewhere that you can adjust screen backlight

Nice presentation!
Can you share with us which cable and iPhone adapter you bought please?
I bought some and they are rejected by the iPhone as there is probably not the right Apple chip in the lightning connector...
Thanks on beforehand!

My March 2017 Trek Powerfully 7 appears to have the "walk mode" enabled. It doesn't take off when I push the + button, but it doesn't try to roll backward down my steep driveway when I push it up using walk mode either. With walk mode enabled and holding the + button the pedals move on their own, while they don't move when walking the bike with it off.

It's a nice display but I've found with mine which is also quite sophisticated once set to my preferences I'm content to rely on just a few functions. Two things about that Bosch display stand out to me. The 5 segment battery indicator is okay but kind of crude because as you've pointed out with displays you just don't know how far down the batter is from 20 to 0 percent. And the most important is that it can be removed, I wish I could do that with mine, I would feel better leaving the bike if it wasn't there. As an aside, mayb Bosch will consider a color display in their future. I love it on mine, going back to black and white would take some getting used to.
