TURBO OVERSPEEDING DAMAGE EXPLAINED

Many often misdiagnose a turbo failure as simply, "the bearings failed" or "it was not balanced." Here is a commonly overlooked example of how you can damage a turbo that has high quality parts and was properly balanced. There are many ways to damage a perfectly good turbo. Other than foreign object ingestion or oil restrictions; an over-speeding scenario from intake restrictions is often very hard for many to grasp. Many high flow filters are not always enough, especially for VGT based performance turbos which operate under higher exhaust pressures.
