In the last week of August, I will finally be in Russia ! And I have chosen this period for obvious reasons. Total solidarity with Russia at times of high hypocrisy in the world, and of huge ignorance of Western citizens that swallow lies like any youngster swallows beers on Fridays nights As I will travel alone, videos like this one will help me. The Moscow's China district and the country of China are not connected in any way. The russian name for China is Kitai (keetai). So, people assume that kitai diatrict and kitai country are connected, but they are not. Just two old words that happen to sound alike.
Kitai diatrict is named for ancient word "kita", which means a type of defense wall. Probably of the same origin as "citta" from which a word "citadel" comes from . The district was called kitai diatrict bc there was a wall surrounding the city of Moscow, as another defense layer against the invaders. So, the district next to kita/wall was called kitai. Eventially, the wall was taken down.
The country is called Kitai bc a 1000 years ago the northern china was populated by the people called Kitai.
