hey! thanks for this video. i have a sony 85mm f1.8 lens which is a focus by wire lens. And I have watch a lot of videos in YT and you are the only who tackled the what i need to hear. I was skeptical about TURNING THE FOCUS RING when my LENS IS IN AF MODE. So now with what you said, i need to avoid this. Because I sometimes forget that the lens is in AF mode and my camera too is in AF-C mode then I keep turning the focus ring. oh my.. I did not know I can destroy my lens by doing that

This was a great breakdown of focusing tech. I’m trying to find an e-mount zoom parfocal lens for a steady video shot like Stanley Kubricks famous zooms. Would you have any recommendations for the 70-200mm range?

Thank you!! Very helpful! Looking into a Sony and Sigma lense and there is a $1200 USD difference. Trying to figure out why and someone was asking about Linear focus. Knowing nothing about photography this really helped. I think I will get a AF lense for my AF needs and if I ever want a specific MF lense I will just buy that lense. I would hate to have an expensive AF lense and "crunch the gears" as you mentioned. So appreciate. You helped my make my decision in the span of a 2 minute explantion. 😁👍🎨

I was wondering how G Master Linear Responsive MF is working.. G Masters have a wire but they claim they can achieve a proper linear responsive on their focus wheels.. How true is that?
