I don't hate her. I think she's a great trainer.

I've seen other trainers do things to dogs that's rather shocking. The fact she doesn't rely on awful gadgets like electric/shock and prong collars.

A good video though. Good arguments.

I'm a VSA Graduate with distinction and know Vic personally. She is a passionate detractor of BSL and holds yearly Dog Behavior Conferences, which include speakers like Michael Shikashio, the recognized specialist in aggressive dogs. Anyone who "hates" her may be simply misinformed.

I believe in balanced training. A dog needs both positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors, and consequences when the wrong behavior is demonstrated. However, the consequences shouldn’t be like Cesar Millan where you alpha roll the dog, or hit the dog like he has done. I think that those who like Victoria are on the right path towards dog training. However, Victoria’s hatred towards aversives is not right. Aversives can be used, but they have to be used in the appropriate way and at the appropriate time to effectively communicate with the dog, and its effectiveness really depends on your dog’s personality and behaviors. What’s important to recognize is that if you want to train your dog, you first have to train yourself. Learn dog body language and analyze why your dog reacts a certain way. Don’t just reprimand a natural dog behavior without noticing why you’re dog is doing it, because that will just train your dog to ignore you because you are ignoring his/her needs. Dog behavior is also heavily dependent on the dog’s breed or mix (hence why mixed breeds usually have more behavioral issues than well bred, purebred dogs, but that’s a whole other topic on its own.) Also, make sure you first consult a vet if your dog has suddenly demonstrated aggression, since it could be a sign of pain or stress.

A good leader will never have to make a fuss about how they are the leader. You don't have to be the biggest bad, you just have to be able to read your dogs, think like your dogs, out smart your dogs and of course repatriation repatriation repatriation.
