Sandi Thom - I Wish I was A Punk Rocker (Official Video)

This video was shot back in 2005 in a busy bustling London Street Market. The video features an aray of actors, Sandi's friends & even some friendly onlookers joined in towards the end of the video. In fact, the flash of a rather pert behind at the end is in fact the Director himself! The video was created prior to Sandi signing her Record Deal with Sony BMG and so in order to save money they shot it in one go so there would be no editing costs! How resourceful ; ) Unfortunately the quality of this clip is nowhere near what we would like but currently Sony will not allow us to use the original.
Since Punk Rocker was released I've gone on to release 4 more albums and have had a blast touring the world.

Big Love!

When I was 12 this song was everywhere, I loved it! It's still freaking awesome. It's weird I can still remember all the lyrics and haven't heard it for years and years.

I got the impression she was wishing she could have been a rebel or someone with something to fight for/believe in like her parents. She keeps saying she was born in the wrong era. I think the flowers in her hair were supposed to be a reference to her "hippie" parents or maybe just the spirit/beliefs of the hippies during that time. I also thought that when she was talking about being a punk rocker she meant that she wanted to be a rebel or someone who was strong and fierce/not afraid to say what she thinks.

Maybe I'm wrong-I love this song either way! :D

I loved this song when I was studying in Cairns, Australia.  everything was totally new and I felt stranger myself there but this song was like a good friend to me.
So much loved it. Love it.

I so would like to know how this video was made since it is both speeded up and slowed down at times but the lip sync is still perfect! It's just such a good job!

Such a powerful song. So incredible, so moving, so true. There is no doubt in my mind that I am a 60's child who was born too late. Just like you Sandi. There is not a single time I listened to this song without getting emotional. This song describes the best era ever. Without me or you Sandi and others like us, unfortunately. One of a few songs that ever made my heart tangible within under three minutes. You deserve to have this video online forever.

Sandi, would you believe if I told you that I heard this on a Malaysian Radio while driving?? Absolutely, loved it! I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker as well. :) Can't wait to hear more from you!

I love the idealistic, slightly melancholy lyrics of this song and the way they're balanced against the more upbeat rhythm. Also Sandi, might I say that your powerful voice belies your small stature.
