Blood is a very specific substance, it depends where the injury is, how fresh the wounds are, how much the character is bleeding. It's not a one fit all solution like "blood is read, so I will color it red" It would be bright red if it comes out of capillaries, but it gets darker as the blood vessel gets larger.

I still cannot get over Lavendertowne's artstyle. It's so simple yet it's unique and expressive, I love it so much

Fun fact about blood that I discovered when I hit my head some time ago: Blood on dark brown hair turns them black, while water makes them just darker brown + blood on hair is as if you went too hard with hair gel. It makes them very hard and sticked together.

diluted blood is a little more orange than pink, actually. plasma is yellowish. from my observances, blood in the mouth, smeared on skin, or spilled into a pool of water tends to get a little orange along the edges. so whenever i draw blood, i tend to add a bit of yellow-orange underneath especially along areas where the blood is thinner, smeared, or diluted i also use a slightly orange shade of red (like rust or scarlet) for the base color.

it's mostly trace amounts of blood that can be a bit pinkish (like blood mixed with other bodily fluids) but in art, i really like adding that touch of orange. it gives the blood a little something extra that really makes it look a lot more realistic.

i like some of the dont sides, they look more cartoony and goofy. i imagine they are good for simple or jokey panels in a comic or something. however the rain drippy effect on the do side looks so good oh my gosh

As someone who has butchered turkeys I can confirm if I am kneeling over the bird the blood shoots up my arm (which I used to sever the neck) and then the rest sort of just spatters in droplets all over me, especially on my lower body but even on my face which is above the bird. Blood really sprays everywhere when it comes out of an artery.

Here's a tip on drawing blood: when you're drawing blood that's coming from the actual thing that's bleeding, you want to make it darker the more deep it is. So if you're drawing a very deep wound then make it very dark in the middle but a bit lighter around. Multiply helps a lot.

Someone I know who is especially good at drawing blood is Jordan Persegatti. He draws a LOT of blood, and he's really good at adding a lot of movement to it

For me, whenever I draw blood it's always supposed to be the main part of the drawing, so I use saturated colours for that, but whenever it's just to make a character look cool, I use darker colours.

I also like using softer, more watercolor-type brushes when drawing blood on clothes, especially ones that blend and fade well onto other colors without needing to blend with a separate tool

If you want to go the extra mile with glitch effects, learn the difference between analog and digital glitches. Like in the american remake of The Ring, the story was still about a video tape (an analog medium) but all the glitching was digital, which was a bit jarring to someone who grew up with the older tech. Of course you don't have to keep things 100% accurate, but it can give the right kind of flavour to your design and help with immersion.

Great tips as always!!
I pride myself in being weirdly good at drawing/painting blood, I remember watching an youtube video about someone showing how blood splatters in different ways and it helped me a lot. Plus, I tend to get hurt a lot so I'm well aware of how many shades blood can have
But I'm absolutely useless with other liquids lol

It's kinda funny about the hair drying thing because the tips of my hair are *always* the first to dry, the rest of my hair will be wet for hours but the tips will dry in half an hour or so
