Heathkit IP-28 Regulated Power Supply: Overview & Restoration

NOTE: This video is a remake of my original IP-29 video. I was unhappy with the original, and decided to edit a new version using a combination of new video segments and clips from the original video.

In this video, I describe the Heathkit model IP-28 regulated power supply dating from the early 1970s. I then take you along through the process of restoration, then I demonstrate the unit, and finally give a detailed circuit description, using my re-drawn schematic diagram (which can be downloaded here:

....see the link near the bottom of that webpage.

Every time you do one of these videos, I find my 1970s electronics education wanting and much of it has been forgotten. I find these videos enjoyable if somewhat frustrating because of how much I've forgotten. I will admit I can't wait until you can get back to doing train trip videos and I'm fairly sure you feel the same way.

Love your videos, the longer the better!! You are very knowledgeable and this helps people who cant get out of their houses right now to have an interaction with the world. That being said your museum trips got me out of the house while I was on sick bed. Thank you for your support!

Can you please give a new link for your schematic? I don’t see the schematic at the previous link. Thanks

I got like a Heathkit dumb terminal that just has the stuff rattling around in it lol. Back when you built your own first computer from a kit, a dumb terminal.
Must of came out before 8 bits took off... and to get computer access you had to connect to a mainframe across a modem or maybe it was used to get video on an Altair, who knows.
