Sui Ishida's Jack Jeanne Was Disappointing.

Jack Jeanne is a visual novel/rhythm videogame written and ilustrated by the creator of Tokyo Ghoul and Choujin X: Sui Ishida. A project of his I was excited for, but now have my quarrels with regarding certain aspects.
Let's talk about it.

00:00 - Prologue.

01:03 - My Worries for the Game.

02:17 - How Choujin X Changed Everything.

03:56 - the Exciting Aspects of Jack Jeanne.

05:11 - Epilogue.

But jack jeanne is an otome game… if it’s not a visual novel, then it’s not possible (or weird?) to have kisa dating 6 men separately in parallel worlds wwww and just because I’m curious, I wonder did u already play it?

As I understand it, Broccoli approached him for character design with only the "boys revue school" idea and Ishida essentially went from "I rewrote your character briefs" to "actually I'm just going to take over every single aspect of the game, from character to setting to world to scenario to dialogue to writing the lyrics."

Just to clarify Ishida wasn’t the main person who can up with the game he was approached to for art and ended up doing a lot for it but it was never fully his idea so he isn’t the be all and end all of the game and isn’t the only one who created it broccoli is the one who came up with the original idea so it would basically never be a manga because it isn’t fully his

I’ve recently played the localized version of Jack Jeanne, it’s seriously one of the best VNs I’ve played in a long time. The story of Jack Jeanne, I feel works best as it is, as a VN/Otome game, being able to hear the emotion put into the voice acting and the songs/music (it’s a musical theater school so this is super important for the story imo) makes the experience that much more immersive. A manga wouldn’t have been able to do it justice 😊🫶 it’s definitely different from what the creator has made before but I don’t think that’s a bad thing, although I can understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea since Otome is a niche market as it is 😂

People seem to be loving the game so far! I ordered it myself. I havent watched Tokyo Ghoul but it feels unfair to compare it to this. I feel like if thats what people are looking for, they will be sorely disappointed.

jackjeanne has been out in english for over a year now and it’s widely regarded as a masterpiece! it took me 150+ hours to 100% the game 😂 i hope everyone that has high tolerance for long visual novels gives it a chance because it really is the umineko/fata morgana of otome games

It would be cool if the creator of Tokyo ghoul made a open ended action game just my opinion

Sounds interesting. Might check it out.

I heard Jack Jeanne's gonna become a manga, too (Ishida's gonna work on both projects).

Like imagine if the creator of Tokyo ghoul made a game based on Tokyo ghoul that sounds amazing to me and I don't know why

I agree that Jack Jeanne would have been cool to have Sui Ishida explore but I have to disagree about it being better than Choujin X, then again I have really been enjoying Choujin X so that’s just my viewpoint on it. I’m finding the character explorations to be very different from Tokyo Ghoul but they do have similar vibes so I can see why you feel that way. So it was good to hear a different opinion!
