Momos primarily originated from Tibet. Later the dish spread to neighboring countries. It is a dish that is quite popular in the Northern part of India, Momo is a traditional daintiness for the Nepalese and Tibetan communities.
Momos came to India in the 1960s

The outer cover of a Momo is generally made of water and white flour dough. At times a little baking soda is added to improve the texture of the dough.

Momo were actually originated from Nepal. However the ideas were depicted from "Mog Mog" from Tibet by Newari Traders who found it delicious. The main discerning factor between Mog Mog and Momo is that Mog Mog was made by yak meat along with sauces inside but Momo was made with Buffalo meat by newars of Kathmandu who called them "momocha".
So to conclude, yes Mog Mog of Tibetian origin resembles Momo but Momo was originally made in Nepal while Mog Mog was a major influence for it's creation.

wrong Facts. Momo was originated in Kathmandu Valley Round 14 century. it is the local dish of Indigenous Newar Tribe. But when Newar princess got married to the king of Tibet then after that it got spread from Tibet to China, Japan, Korea and so on.
