soda machine coin mech free vend mod

This is for my Vendo 63, but I think all similar machines use the same Jones plug pinouts. Instead of making my own connectors out of wall plug blades, I gutted the coin mech and used the existing plug/cord. When opening
the machine, you cannot tell any modification has been made.

Pinouts:
1 = 117 VAC (Hot)
2 = 117 VAC (Neutral)
3 = VEND RELAY - NORMALLY OPEN
4 = NC (No Connection)
5 = Exact Change - Normally Open (NEUTRAL)
6 = (HOT) ACCEPT COINS
7 = VEND RELAY-NORMALLY CLOSED (HOT)
8 = NC (No Connection)

Pin 1 and 7 should be wired together and attached to one side of the switch.
Pin 3 is wired to the other side of the switch.

I just used a switch from inside the coin mech that already had wires coming off it, and just wirenutted the wires coming off the jones plug cord together with them. Use a switch rated for 120v!

you'd be amazed at how muc easier it is to read something faint like that if you do it in the dark and use a very bright little led flashlight.

BTW, you shouldn't ruin anything by drilling it out, IF you're careful. Better on a vintage machine to pay a locksmith to do it right. A good one will have a little tool that drills out an"O" through the tubular area so there's no chance of slipping and it shears off all the pins. zip, click, lock's out in a jiffy. worth it. new lock is cheap.

I ended up drilling it out and changing the lock to another tube lock. After a lot of Googling I found that the lock I had was a "Flex Ace" lock. This type has no number stamped in it because the vending machine owner or locksmith can change the key number by exchanging the pin set with a different one, as long as you have the special tool and the new set of pins. You'd also have to have the old key I believe to get the lock into the "reset" position and use a tool to depress or lock the tumbler

@tbutkie Yeah I seriously considered it. I may have to end up doing that but I wanted to keep the machine looking original since I plan on restoring it and keeping it. Thanks.

Ok thanks for the info. I will have to look at it better but I'm certain that it's an Ace tubular lock though. I saw a guy on eBay that said he has the Chicago lock keys and also has the one's for the Ace locks too. i will have to hit him up once I'm sure of the lock number. The stamping is somewhat faint or worn but I might be able to try a couple of them if the keys aren't too expensive.

my lock cylinder says PR213, that is the key code, if the lock cylinder is from the chicago lock company, their codes are PR201 and up in 1 digit increments.

I bought my key from Ebay and it worked perfectly. If your lock cylinder is worn to the point where you cant see the code you are likely out of luck.

search for: CHICAGO LOCK KEYS FOR COCA COLA VENDING MACHINES

If you have the regular key hole you are more likely to find the matching key, if it is a round key hole it will be harder

Since that stuff was non existent now I just saved some headache and drilled it out. I had considered making/ buying a tube lock pick and have the original re-keyed but I guess I got too impatient. :) I only wanted to save the lock because it appeared to be original to the machine. Now after looking at tons of machines on ebay and other places on the net it seems that my machine was either the only one that still had the original lock or the lock was replaced at some point during its life.

go on ebay and buy a matching key to the lock cylinder code- should cost around $15 for the original key and it will work like a charm.

I can't seem to find the keycode on the lock anywhere. There is some printing on the face of the lock but it doesn't seem to match up to anything I can find and the printing is a little worn or it was a light strike at the factory.

Hey! I have a vendo 63 that I just got from an old woman recently. She din't have the tube lock key for it. Do you know of a way to bypass or open the lock without drilling it out or picking it? I didn't want to destroy the lock if possible. I heard there was a way to open it up without the key but I haven't found any info on this. I have tried to pick it unsuccessfully so far.
Thanks!

Hi! I wonder how you can send MDB data or some how hack a Coinco Global2? Looks like a similar machine to you. I have a harness with 6 pins. It looks like it sends serial data to the actual machine. Thanks in advance!

Is it possible to rig an coke vending machine to take slugs? I'd like to sell Mexican coca cola in an old vending machine where the customer pays todays price for it at the cashier who gives them a slug to use in the machine.
