Wheel size is measured at the actual wheel, not the tire. The RadMini and Rad Mini step through have the same wheel size, 20”. The tires are indeed different aspect ratios and tread depth so the wheel/tire will present different overall size. Rad sells both.

James Bond, could you please place the Rad Step Thru beside your Rad Mini for a size comparison please, since it does appear in the video that the tire size is considerably different.

I'm considering purchasing one of the two when they come available and that specific difference might be the determining factor. Thanks in advance!

If you can not get the cable end back on, you can always solder it and that will seal it in place.

Can you do review of Ariel Rider M-Class next to your Rad mini and maybe Tern Vektron. They are my favorite 3 ebikes at this class.

Watched the premier yesterday. I am thinking of getting the other version as I want black, but am super interested in differences between the two years. They only mention a few upgrades between 2018 and 2019, but there seems to be a lot more. As you mentioned, the controller seems to be different, the derailleur is also the next step up, and a few other things not listed on the site.


I am not sure how much you have ridden it so far, but how do the gears compare to the old mini? Also, how are the slick tires on grass? I heard they do a pretty good job everywhere even tho they aren't as aggressive. Finally, do you think you will get fenders for this one? I wanna get fenders so I don't get coated in crap, but they are $180 with tax and shipping here ( Canada), which is kinda crazy expensive.


Sorry for all the questions, but I am too excited to be able to get one. I am in Canada and they are impossible to get, basically. They have been delayed for three months with no exact date as to when they will be out. They say this month, but that is what they said the last two months lol.

I noticed the controller on the Mini high step is now the same as the Rover and Mini Step-Thru for 2019...in a separate black plastic box instead of that metal box below the pedals. I don't recall you saying you had any issues with the metal box version ?....not sure why they changed it

How tall are you? It's important to know, to gauge your height in relation to the bike.

It's not the size of the wheels or tires that's different (both bikes carry 36H - 20"). It's the frame and the overall geometry that's smaller on the Step-through. It is made for smaller riders (women). I don't know how tall you are but the tech specs on the website clearly state that this bike is for riders up to 5'-10" in height.

you know instead of your whole wrist being broken in case of crash might i suggest using your index finer and thumb to make an O and use them to twist the throttle

I can’t get mine to go over 15mph. I set my speed at 40kph max and wheels to smallest but I still can’t get the speed up! Don’t know why

Do you have a rear rack on either of your rad minis? Was it easy to install?
