Which one will you choose? Let me know

I feel like this should have been the 6K Pro. The highest end BMPCC 6K Pro is still close to half the price of the Sony options, and comes with variable NDs and a flippy screen.

I went through a buncha videos and yours is the only one that distinguishes film vs commercial work. Thanks!

Fortunately, I had both of them! Literally there’s lot of difference between them Not in quality that much but in purpose 🔥 As far as I’m concerned, Fx3 is worth in-terms of technical side …

If you guys are looking for photography & videography at the semi professional level. Photographer’s best choose ever.
You can do both at high quality footage for sure…

If you are focusing more flimic
like videos with more advanced
settings ( SLR inputs, colour tone,
higher frame rate, frame free camera,
portable, build quality, weather sealed,
Cooling fan, waterproof….) and also like to take photographs , fx3 is your camera.

You hit the nail on the head! Everything you said is 💯 correct. I am a professional Director and have a crew for most shoots, but for my smaller projects I went from Sony A7sII when it came out to the Blackmagic 4K then to the 6K and loved the image but focusing was ALWAYS a stress and I was worried about my shots being in focus all the time it effected my freedom of filming, not to mention all the stuff I had to add to Rig it out. Sold all my blackmagic stuff and got the FX3 since I already had the A7riii and some lenses and man am I happy!! Best decision ever. It never misses focus, tracks my subject, weighs less than half and the small batteries last all day long. Albeit for my smaller personal projects. Even big commercials too. Otherwise if I have a crew, I go with Alexa’s or Reds since I am not the one carrying them and focusing. The blackmagic is a “better” overall image and codec, but nothing anybody would ever notice. Just my personal professional opinion.

Don’t forget doc filmmaking. FX3 for the win in that category.

Why would I pay more for the same camera without an EVF and less ergonomic? As a videographer, I always made extra money with stills. If I needed XLR (which I never did, always fine with external recorders) I can just buy separately. FX3 just doesn't make sense, less of a camera, spending more. If the FX3 came with NDs or better output quality, the conversation would be totally different. Just my toughts.

Very good review! The price tag is really quite different.
Then i start dreaming I would love to have the Sony-autofocus option combined with the blackmagic 6k pro.

Great coverage! So glad I discovered your channel/content. I just don’t get how Blackmagic’s focus isn’t better.
You nailed it with the focus. But I get it…sincerely… it’s a BEHIND the camera device. But that’s just me wanting that for the device… that and a better battery. It would arguably be the ruler!
All BS aside your content hit a cord with many of us. Thx for sharing!

ProRes raw with the FX3 + external recorder (Ninja V). Full frame, better low-light. I still use my BMPCC 4K. They're all good.

Perfect video, thanks! That said what needed to be said.

Great video. One thought on Raw for event work. Almost everyone I spoke to or watched video about say they use raw for event work as well as compressed raw on blackmagic takes very less memory space.

I have a A7III and wanted to upgrade to something for better video features... instead, I kept the A7III for my photography work and bought a second-hand BMPCC 4K for a steal and it's still an absolute beast!

Great breakdown man! Thank you. I am making YouTube videos, but I want them to look like movies. I use a Sony A7iii/A7C, but the image looks so digitised and home movie-like. What should I choose?

Honestly if you are still in doubt as to which of these budget video cameras is great for u after watching this, then dont know what to say...excellent video and explanation. These are the three cameras am looking at upgrading from the a7iii and this video was very straight to the point and clear...am also thinking of the gh6 also but I think I will stick to the fx3 honestly being that I already have a few sony lenses and familiar with the sony system and settings

do you notice any fan noise on the black magic 6k/6k pro and the sony fx3?
on reddit, ppl say the 6k is loud (can hear across the room), others say the fx3 overheats, but u can put the fan in auto, high mode, or turn it off. (i shoot at 24p, nothing exotic like 120p)

i shoot mostly indoors in small spaces, so need a relatively quiet camera that works well in low light. I power my current a73 camera and ninja v w external 98wh battery on a smallrig cage/ qr/rails.

pretty happy w my sony a73, but would def get a benefit from fx3's 12mp instead of 24mp for improved low light. also the upgrade from 8 to 10bit color and internal fan seem useful. and no recording limit is helpful shooting narrative/long talking heads stuff.

but def going towards a more narrative film direction overall. so there's the 6k. would have to get new lenses and sacrifice reliable sony build quality, and hope prempro's plugin works good enuf w braw. but recording direct into a samsung t5 ssd is appealing. and ppl seem to consistently say the image quality is better on the 6k.

tough decisions! lol

I really appreciate the work and explanation of yours. I'm planning to but bmpcc 6k pro for making a feature film, what are the important lenses and which brand you suggest ? I need help please help me out from this confusion .

Disagree, you can always add a cage and grip to the a7s3 but can never add a evf to the FX3 something that does come in handy when least expected
