The reason I think he was somewhere else is the line he tells Charlie and Vaggie in the first episode, "Well my dear I haven't been active in hell for some time" something along those lines- So he wasn't in hell for those 7 years, we know that for sure

The guy that killed/enslaved/tormented overlords and only stopped it because he was bored of it or something, and also has the ability to just fade into shadows can't just dissappear without anyone knowing?

Also either husk knew where alastor was or the contract was made before alastor absence, everything else wouldn't really make sense, exept if servants can somehow tell when their contractor loses a soul

Something of note is that Sinner demons regardless of power aren't allowed on the levels of hell besides pride, it was always odd that someone, especially someone as noticable as Alastor could disappear in a relatively confined area like that, even more so with the Vee's keeping an eye out for him.

I like the theories about Alastor being tied to Lilith and the hotel! Perhaps he's allowed to enter heaven through Lilith's rules. Helping Charlie with her hotel.

And also in his breakdown song he says something along the lines of “surely my deal must have a backdoor once I figure out how to unclip my wings” so this could imply that Lilith and Alastor made a deal and he is a fallen angel like lucifer and also on the deal topic husker said in i believe it was episode 5 he said something along the lines of Alastor being on a leash
