To listen to an informative and cogent assessment of a potential recruit, devoid of “I feel”, is so refreshing

Already signed him a couple years ago for arsenal on football manager. I won the treble, your move Mikel.

Merino will be a reincarnation of Gilberto Silva. The midfielder who simply keeps things ticking and only pops up with impact plays and perhaps goals when it is absolutely necessary.

A similar player to granit xhaka intelligent who has his limits physically and maybe technically but just has the mind to make up for it can operate anywhere on the midfield in terms of being comfortable in different zones defensively solid and also has that awareness to get into good positions on the attack good passer phenomenal at winning his duels I just find him so similar to xhaka

Idk why people are saying they don’t want him? He will 100% improve the squad.it’s a no brainer

I really thought Nacho Monreal was really underrated with us. I felt dare i say it world class? He was at his prime at Arsenal and was a force on the left side for a while.

All of this market opportunity talk. I think Arteta’s #1 attacker on his list is Isak..

Isak - Havertz - Saka
Merino - Rice - Ode
Timber - Gabriel - Saliba - White
Raya

Given the midfield transformation that needs to happen over the summer and January transfer windows, Merino isn't a player I'd like to see come in this summer. I think we need a more impactful/elite player to partner Rice. So we'd have Rice, (new elite player), Jorginho as the 3rd choice. With Party being sold. Then I'd like to see a new 3rd choice join in Jan giving him half a season to adapt as we phase out Jorginho.

I look at players like Mikel Merino and Youssouf Fofana as replacements for Jorginho and Partey. We need a replacement of an 8 like Ramsey / Cazorla type player, players like Enzo Millot, Mahdi Camara, Amankwah Forson, Quentin Timber, Michael Folorunsho and Gabriel Sara to name a few.

To George. I understand that Calafiori doesn't immediately solve the LHS by being an Overlapper but if we are talking of him becoming the Ben White of the LHS can he not develop into that. Ben White didn't arrive as the player who he is now, be grew into that Role and I feel certain that Calafiori can do the same as well. He has the best attributes and qualities to become that. Davies might seem like the immediate fix but he lacks of defensively. CB to Fullback is what Arteta seems to be after eg. Gvardiol

i love how he was considered a panic buy but now everyone wants him

Are you ppl for real? So in all the 2years he spent at Newcastle no-one even noticed once and yall supposedly follow? He was one of Rafa Benitez best finds for Newcastle in a while. Very technical and defensively sound can play 8 or 6

Arsenal fans always do this they get linked to a player and then we convince ourselves that he is what we need.

Would you guys say he has any similarity to Ivan Rakitic?

Think it's maybe interesting to say if we did go through with Merino, Tierney could be involved in a swap deal potentially, but looking at it from Real Sociedad's perspective Le Normand is likely leaving, wouldn't be surprised to see Kubo leave (although he massively fell off after his great start), Zubimendi is constantly linked away so they will be reluctant to let him leave

nicky.
