Top 10 interesting facts about the Tibetan Terrier, an affectionate, smart and fun loving dog breed.

Short Tibetan Terrier description:
Tibetan Terrier is powerful and compact dog that should be 14 to 16 inches tall which is 35-40 cm and their weight should be between 20-24 pounds which is 9-11 kg. The females are naturally little bit smaller than males.

Tibetan Terriers are not pushovers to train, especially because of their independent and kinda stubborn nature. But they do react well on reward base training and they are very intelligent, which means they can learn a lot of tricks with a consistent and patient trainer.

Tibetan Terriers make amazing family companions and they are good with older children. When they are around small kids, they should always be supervised, because those small children do not know how to treat dog properly. Tibbies normally, when they are socialized, have no problems with other pets.

Best dog I’ve ever had! The most loving and tuned in to me all the time. Very gentle and polite around food. Adoring eyes.

I found our Tibetan Terrier ( Tashi) at the Humane society 16 years ago, he's 18, quite old now. There is no better dog breed. He would only bark when someone was at the door, or when I took my son to bed. He has such a quiet, polite temperament- he has been perfect ( he turned the trash over once when he was 6). I have tried to find a dog, in the past couple of years, that Tashi could teach to be civilized, quiet and incredibly loving. I couldn't find one. So, since I can't buy one, Tashi is the last truly great dog that my son and I will have. Thank you for the video - I hope everyone knows what an incredible temperament they have !

Easily the smartest, most personable dog breed I have ever encountered. "Companion" is truly the word at the heart of this breed. They are extremely loyal. Stubborn...uh..yeah. That goes with being smart. They have their own agenda, so you are going to have to learn to negotiate at times. But, in the end, you will get the sweetest, kindest, most loyal, and gentlest of dog breeds. I cannot recommend this breed enough if you are considering a dog.

12 years that’s how long my TT has blessed our lives. No mistake about it Lucy is my dog and I’m her person. She is as energetic as a puppy, just shorter burst.

The monks called them Little People and believed that they were souls who hadn't QUITE made it to human, this time around. The monk's job was to teach the dog to be human by treating him or her with great respect and love, and the dog's job was to remind the monk that humans are animals too.

Your video was great. Here are some other facts. I have owned Tibetan Terriers previously, and now.
1) Tibetan Terriers select their own human from all the other humans. You can't change their chosen companion.
2) Tibetan Terriers are very, very protective. They detect everything that could be a threat to their companion. Please, don't scold. Say, "Good Dog" and move along.
3) Tibetan Terriers learn new tricks almost immediately.

They seem like the bigger brother to the Lhasa Apso! 🧡

My Lhasa Apso dog is just like this kind, a little smaller. He is 15+ years old, best watch dog, 100% loyalty, youthful looking. Whole family love his 4 paws- “snow-sled “ so cute but sturdy, walk fast and long without issue. He lives with us too long, he starts begging his needs by talking to us many times daily, I eventually give up my way, fulfill his way.

Thank you so much for this informed, accurate description of a wonderful dog. Do you know anything about a “Tiboodle, ” the newest of the poodle hybrid dogs? I am interested in a Tiboodle, although the standard Tibbie could be a good fit for my husband and me, who are both retired. Are you familiar with any reputable breeders of Tibbies? Thank you for any help or guidance you can give me!
