Geoffrey Alan Rhodes is a professor at USC-SJTU Institute of Culture and Creative Industry. Before joining in the school, he served as an assistant professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, and was a tenured associate professor and head of the department of Visual Communication Design at the School of Art Institute of Chicago.

He came to Shanghai for the first time in 2010 because of his wife. He then came to Shanghai from time to time, which gave him opportunity to look back at the development of art in the past ten years.

“The number of galleries and the number of newly built museums is quite amazing, and this growth momentum is still continuing,” said Geoffrey, “it's really quite exciting.”

His family moved to Shanghai in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic, and he blissfully starts the new life here. "I love Shanghai," Geoffrey laughed.
