I didnt think that guinea pigs would be so developed as newborns. They look like tiny adults. What cute little animals.

I adopted two baby Guinea pigs about a year ago I believe and we named one of them hazel aswell, while naming her sister who we came to adopt peanut but we saw peanut had a sister and two brothers and we decided to take her sister aswell to make sure she could always be with family.

I've never actually seen baby cavys. I thought they would be more like baby mice or rats. They look like little adults at 1 day old!❤❤❤

I’m crazy about them too. I have 14 rescued piggies and one of them is 13 years old and one is 14 years old. They’re my absolute joy.

I have a ~2 year old guinea pig now, I got her from a shelter and they said she was a year old but when I looked at her and her behavior I suspect she was more of a few months (6 months max) just given her size compared to even the smallest year old guinea pig I've had.
Can't really fault the shelter for that since they probably didn't know guinea pigs are born fully developed unlike most other rodents. Thanks to her young age and the fact that she seemed to have come from a hard past (ears with bites and was skin and bones when I got her) she imprinted heavily onto me and prefers my company over the other guinea pigs she's with now.

This is why guineapigs make such interesting pets, as soon as their born they are already tiny adults and they live much longer then an average rat or hamster about 8-10yrs per say. Iv own them almost my whole life and Im still in love!

I didn't know they were that large at a day old, or that their eyes would already be open and they would be able to move around as easily as an adult. I would've guessed those guys were at least a week old, if not 3, but my family only got guinea pig adults one time, and i don't know how long we had them for, or how old they were when we got them, but I never got to see them as babies.

I love them, too. I cannot resist them. I had to stop getting them. They have such a short lifespan and it breaks my heart when I lose one.

They are so sweet. ❤

I miss my piggy....he passed away recently, he was my special boy for all his 6 years of life. Rest in peace, Kona.

They are so adorable!! 😍😍😍
When I got Ned (my profile picture), he was 12 weeks old and still fit in the palm of my hand. He is a bit on the smaller side compared to the other ones that I've had, even though he's an adult (turned 5 earlier this month)
