Us who are free to live our lives because of all these heroes, have no idea what they went through. These stories should be told in schools so we never see another war. RIP Julius.

I worked many years in a gun store in ventura. And we had a lot of WW2 veterans from all sides that would come in the store. A lot of americans, a few germans, one who survived Stalingrad, and a Japanese guy who had been a kamikaze pilot and he flew his plane into a ship, or maybe he was shot down, I'm not sure, but he survived. He became a POW and after the war, he emigrated to the US, and worked his buns off and became very wealthy. He lived in Simi valley and him and my boss became good friends. Of all the veterans who would visit the store, he is the one that cause the whole store to go silent. He used to carry autographed photos of himself in front of his plane on the day he went on his suicide mission and he would hand them out to people. He had over the years become one of the most respected members of his community and had memberships with several fraternal organizations. I wish I could remember his name. Japanese names are not easy to remember.

The stories this generation could tell but so many were unable to deal with reliving the trauma. They endured so much for our country and our allies. It’s sad to see them go. God bless them .🇺🇸

If you lived (or plan on visiting) Idaho, I’d take you for Happy Hour. My military buddies and I thoroughly enjoy your work (and giving the Greatest Generation the recognition they deserve)!
