Hi! My name is Leonie and I am a 25 year old girl who loves talking about books! From YA to non-fiction to classics, I read it all (although fantasy will always be my fave). I live in the Netherlands and go to university, but make booktube videos in my spare time :)

"Just because something is wholesome and cute doesn't mean you need to give up on depth" YES this is why I get so annoyed with a lot of "cozy fantasy" because I feel like I keep finding the stuff that is just fluffy and cute and doesn't have much behind it. Terry Pratchett and Diana Wynne Jones are where it's at as far as cozy fantasy goes, and thankfully they both wrote a lot of books!

For cozy fantasy my favorite has to be Howl's Moving Castle. The banter is A+ and it has all the right vibes: a magical home, quirky characters, and hilarious writing. I had the book on my shelf for years before I read it and I can't believe it took me so long to get to it. It's so lovely.

Legends and lattes is a good example of how people shouldn't be scared to write short stories, sometimes certain ideas work better in a shorter form. I think it would have worked well in a collection of short feel good fantasy stories.

For fans of ‘Legends & Latte’ and even those that just enjoy those vibes, I recommend a very cozy little game called ‘Coffee Talk’. Set in a fantasy world with various mysterious costumers visiting a little coffee shop with an even more mysterious barista

that one scene in the prisoner of azkaban movie with the boys in the Gryffindor dorm is where i discovered my affinity for cosy fantasy tbh

For the milk to go all cloudy and swirly you need to steam it first, and add it all at once at the end when it's been steamed so there's a separation initially :) will make the drink taste even better too because the process should change the taste of the milk slightly too!

Somehow Legends & Lattes is the only cozy fantasy I enjoyed and I think it's the fact that I really like farm sims and reading that book felt like watching someone play a fantasy coffee shop simulator with really yummy drink and food descriptions :D

TJ Klune's humor is my favourite, it really works for me, and also his writing style in general. So far I've only read his older self published series, but I am really looking forward to reading The house in the cerulean sea, and In the lives of puppets!

I love how you can enjoy a book but still point out certain character or plot themes that irk you. You’re helping me to do the same with the books I read…thank you!

I adored Legends and Lattes. It makes me sad it didn’t bring you as much joy as it did me.

If you want to read Terry Pratchett's Discworld, do!! But I also really recommend Good Omens, which was co-written by Neil Gaiman. It has all the humour of Pratchett combined with Gaiman's feel for darkness and grit. Plus, it also has a literal anti-christ child and a super fun relationship between an angel and a demon with amazing banter.

howl's moving castle by diana wynne jones absolutely fits the "cozy fantasy" genre! I'm biased because i loved the film but that novel was so comforting to read. also would include good omens by terry prachett and neil gaiman! the banter is fantastic and it's just a really fun read.

For hot drinks you have to steam the milk. For cold drinks, add a lot of ice to create a “barrier” that slows down the liquids.

one of my favourite cozy fantasy book is sorcery of throns even though it is not a cozy fantasy at all! I cannot describe it but reading it is pure comfort for me and I think is the tiny bit of found family trope between the lines
