"As if I'm acting in a play"
"Like two actors on a stage"
Dude, fourth wall much? XD It's so funny...

That 'A minute more' part at the end sounds like Light wants to be with L a minute longer, he didn't want the game to end...

I love how L´s last line ("Like a closing door") comes almost exactly 40 seconds after Light stating "Rem has written".

Fourth Wall: *oOF*

Anyone else think L's death is terrifying? He knows he's being controlled, but can't do anything to stop it.

Can we discuss the slight desperation and fear in L's voice when he says "ever" during 'you'll never, ever get away"?

Something about "I've seen you right from the start" is the most powerful and heart wrenching line of this song/musical. It's right up there with "I don't care who gets hurt now as long as I get one more shot".

I'll cry at almost anything, but this had me absolutely broken- I think that when a lot of people think of L, his calculating nature is seen as genuine disinterest and detachment, but it all comes from an isolation. This song makes him so perfectly human, but so perfectly L; he's distressed, he's desperate, but he's also falling back into metaphors of cameras and technology, the things that have replaced his social interaction and essentially made him who he is. I think part of what makes this song so upsetting is that while L has always been so fixated on winning, he's still just human, and it hits him when he knows he's about to die just how much he's lost.

See this is what Netflix should have done. Instead of trying to strip out what someone’s who didn’t watch death note would assume is what makes the show great they could have created the musical version. It would have been different, it would have been sad, but it also would have been exactly what death note stands for instead of what it could stand for.

I love that it almost feels like a love song, L knows whats going to happen... But Light is talking like he wants to stay with L just a little longer. Just like L sounds the same. Now im just sad :((

L... His voice is so saddening... This is the real L that we love. I'm actually crying while I wrote this comment.

I'm so sad. L was, and is, my favorite character.

For L fans - this song represent sad, torture, disappointment

For light fans-this song represent the beginning of new Era, the age of justice and kira

For those who are feeling happy and sad, I can understand why, as without L, deathnote was missing something, it's like a batman series without joker, burrito without sourcream

The voices are phenominal and I just ??? Really want to cry?? Like Light is trying to show his dominance and L's not having it? He still fights back despite the fact that hes going to die. And light wont let that fact go. Almost like all he wants is the victory, not specifically L's death.

The first "like a closing door!" That little riff hidden on "losing" I LOVE IT SO MUCH PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HEARING IT?!

Jarrod Spector's voice is perfect for L, as Jeremy's one is perfect for Light. One is chaotic and almost rough, the other is kind of regal and collected (or is it just me?). One of my favorite musicals and castings, love it❤️

The thing I love about this songs is how human L sounds. The little laugh at the start is super depressing, because everyone knows this is it and his last moments.

I love the semi duet at the end, and the way their lines merge together. L’s lines are super well done, extending much longer almost as if it’s him trying to hold onto life: “Like a closing door”

And then their last two lines they both sound so sad, and it’s quite depressing. This song really made me appreciate L more.

Edit: everyone’s thoughts on these songs are the best :)

“...but you were with me all the way, ” is the part where you can tell Light doesn’t necessarily want L to die, even if that means his victory.

A lot of other comments have said this sounds like a breakup song, and it honestly does. I don’t know if that makes this song better for the undertones it adds, or just sadder. I think it does make the song better.

I love/hate this song. It makes me cry. You can FEEL the desperation and fear in Lawli-pop's voice, and Light is spot-on. The slight guilt paired with the euphoria of his win are perfect.

This song is so depressing and beautiful. I haven't gotten over L's death yet. I wanted L to win.
