If you've ever installed soft-close drawers from the Besta range sold by Ikea, you may have seen this problem: those drawers just won't shut tight!

Somehow, the soft-close action is muted and the drawers can't be pushed flush with the Besta cabinet sides.

I tried not one but 3 drawers, all to no avail. Now, where is that showroom look that convinced us to buy Ikea Besta drawers in the first place?

After some experimenting, I found the issue was with the drawer runners -- they weren't affixed at the right location!

Watch my video to learn more about how to correctly mount Besta drawer runners to give you that flushed drawer front with soft-close action all working properly :)

With this simple Ikea hack, now there's no reason why Ikea Besta drawers not lining up can ruin your day and DIY project.

If you have any ideas to improve the solution and have found another way to fix this issue with Besta drawer runners, please post your comments for others to learn from.

No, that works, but it's a lot of trouble. You need to move the drawer back on the slide so it's closer to the cabinet when it closes. There is two holes in the drawer that connect it to the slide, (the back hole just keeps the drawer from tipping forward, the hole on the underside of drawer, (on both sides) is the one that positions the slide to the drawer. Take a pliers and gently bend the little dagger on top (the one toward the front of the slide), of each drawer slide back toward the cabinet. It will still fit into the drawer hole, and you can get an 1/8" or even 3/16" adjustment. Ta-da!

Two identical cabinets - number one no problem with gaps, number two gaps on both sides...
