Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide - Dramatic Chemical Reaction with Potassium Permanganate

preview_player
Показать описание
This is a demonstration of the oxidation-reduction (redox) chemical reaction between 30% hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate.

In this chemistry experiment, known as "Genie in a Bottle", manganese is reduced from the +7 to the +4 oxidation state.

This reaction is highly exothermic (heat-producing) and the results can be dramatic. Do not use more H2O2 than we used.

Amazing reaction, but i did some math out of curiosity and get to know that for 30% h2o2 and kmno4 the ratio u mixed here is not the stoichiometric ratio but still u got a vigorous reaction, from my math i got something around 1:1 ratio as the stoichiometric ratio, so is there any specific reason u added a bit extra here 85ml for such vigorous reaction ??? Thansk in advance ❤❤❤
