Not only this India is also indigenizing Dornier 228 engines in Kanpur and Koraput.

It is amazing how indigenously developed thing can be used in so many ways which is often ignored by defense enthusiasts where they always look down on any indigenization effort, I cannot thank you enough for bringing such clarity about these things like some yogi/sage, this is very rare.

We should have done this at least a decades ago

A few other important needs are taking ownership of the airframe-
1. converting the skin to carbon composite just like Tejas
2. Adding the S-duct rather straight inlet for the air intakes, to improve the stealth profile - this is challenging and extremely changes the platform of Sukhoi to challenge JSF - a thought here is angle the engines like in Su57, and raise the mount to bump our above rather below., so the engines will raise up with the stealth skins. At a 10 to 15* degree angle pointing inwards, gives an oppty to duct the inlet away on either sides, and perhaps flatten (from the current large vertically rectangular to horizontally quadrilaterals or like Rafale roundish) it as the wings are wide enough. It might need to move the first pylon on either side a little bit. just a thought.
3. RAM coatings

When first news came out about single cristal blades. What I thought finally GoI following.
Use AL31 As test bed for Indigenous technologies developed master it it will help to develop our own 140 KN Indigenous Engine after AMCA engine deal

Very good. We have to upgrade it to higher thrust and better FADEC controls to make it more efficient with higher service intervals. This upgraded engine can be used in AMCA/TEDBF/TEJAS-MK2.
The same has to be done with RD33MK engines. I dont understand why IAF is fixated on western engines so much to the detriment of the security of our nation. The Chinese are intelligent, they worked with what they had. They didnt get stuck like in GE-F404 case.

This is an excellent idea. We should have done this long ago, as we are producing AL 31 for a long time. Anyway, let us wish DRDO and HAL best of luck for this initiative.

This gives confidence that with experience and fast development of the indigenous eco systems, Bharat will master the aircraft technology in the same way it has gone far ahead first with space programs and then with the missile programs. There r the key components with the ecosystem to add to r the semiconductor technology, metallurgy and artificial intelligence. Govt has made the swift move on these key areas as policy and programs.

You often speak about mettalurgy but never explain why. Only 2 country make heavy category engines-russia and USA. Both make almost same thrust engines for su30/35 and f15e/ex but we notice that russian engine are very light weight as compared to american engines in same thrust category. Yes it is true that al31 gave 2500 hours life and f100 gave 3200 hours but we got unique auto 3d thrust vectoring technology to compensate with service hours. Amd now more lighter and better thrust al41 with 4000 hours life is a quantum jump in service hours while retaining 3d thrust vectoring as compared to f100 engine. I don't understand how russia engine with lighter weight better thrust to weight ratio and now better service hours can be called inferior.

Even the GE- F414 can only produce 98kn thrust with afterburner

Even adding some Russian Engine engineers also good as Engine changes without OEM recommendation are not good. Ultimately great thought to put Engine test bed.

What’s stopping production of the complete engine if we single crystal tech and our own blades? It’s frustrating to still see US dependence for Tejas engines

This plan is for indegenizing Su-30 engines and fully appreciate it.
But we need a plan for indegenizing upcoming Tejas, AMCA engines also (WITHOUT ANY FOREIGN DEPENDANCY as US cannot be trusted) as more than 500 of these fighters are going to be ordered. Without this plan US will continue to use engines to remote control us for the next 30-40 years !

Basically this is the results of Super sukhoi upgrade

We are now going to make our own engine parts now

That's why Super Sukhoi are going to take 15 years to complete
