I was hired as fully remote. 2 years later was told they wanted me in office (to take on additional responsibilities). Simply replied "no, hire someone else". Been a year haven't heard it mentioned again. Good employees need to remember that good employees are tough to come by.

The best thing ever with remote work is not the commute, saving money, etc… it’s using my own bathroom

It’s the best part of remote work

Former employee here. First of all, Dell was an amazing company to work for. Regarding RTO, my perspective: 1) Dell promoted remote work during COVID and profited handsomely from the hardware sales to support that for their customers 2) Dell was heavily remote work PRIOR to CoVid. 3) Dell was very transparent (my opinion) prior to CoVid about Everything!! 4) once the big Corps started RTO due to City and State pressure to endorse the economics of RTO (example: tax exemptions were threatened if RTO was not followed) Dell changed their tune 5) RTO policy was applied 100% even if an employee was never office based and/or had an office to visit. Last but not least, many viewed RTO movement to Dell trying to get people to quit (Bane recommended a 30% workforce reduction). Let that marinate.

Dell is literally the standard PC make for most corporates. Every company I have ever worked for has had Dell computers

Of course its better! You get 2-3 more hours per day with your family instead of spending that time in traffic. Its cheaper, safer, and less stress...etc...etc...etc

Dell is #3 global computer manufacturer behind Lenovo and HP. They are not a failed corporation. Compaq is probably the biggest example of a computer manufacturer that is no longer in business.

What they probably missed in the article you’re referencing is 8 - 9 months prior to this genius idea is the chief brainiac at Dell and founder said “it’s a new world and we’ll probably never return to office en mass”. So people were misled.

Ken time and time again can’t see why WFH can be an effective tool. His bias at the organizational level keeps him capitulating to an audience that reinforces his viewpoint, and he has to tow the company line. If you have SMART objectives, and clear expectations on deliverables and timelines, WFH can absolutely work successfully. If you’re working with international teams that are 9 1/2 hours ahead of you, such as Mumbai / Pune / Bangalore, you’re gonna be taking meetings very, very early in the morning and you don’t wanna have to be in the office to do that. I just continue to find this thorough distain for remote work out of touch with the realities of working internationally, or finding the talent where the talent is, not by the virtue of geographic convenience.

And the fact that he has absolutely no idea whatsoever how prevalent Dell is in the workstation and server landscape only reinforces my opinion of him.

You couldnt be more out of touch with your iMac. Dell is in every corporate office in America. They own the Windows scene.

This is rich af, knowing Ramsey wants nothing to do with remote work!

RTO is a passive layoff. Given that we are probably already in a recession it was a smart move, esp. to separate the sheep from the goats. So expect these remotes to be whittled down. The speaker on this show is playing checkers while Dell is playing chess.

A lot of enterprise companies only use DELL

Dell is used by many Fortune 500 companies. They sell software, security, and hardware. They control many more products/and backroom services than you realize.

You won’t be eligible for a promotion if you don’t come into the office? Hmm if their office is anything like mine… they will really struggle to get good experienced internal promotions, when they need a people leaders. Discounting 50% of your workforce from possible leadership positions is rough.

I already made peace with myself. I am not going back to the office.

Staring off by wondering why Dell is still around when they pretty much own the PC market of corporate America is not a good look 😂

What's funny about Ken thinking that Dell is an obsolete brand is that Dell actually has almost twice the market share of personal computers than the brand he uses does (17% Dell vs. 9% Apple).

Dell is a powerhouse in client PCs, servers and storage. Remember, Dell acquired EMC which was one of the best companies to work for.

How do you advertise related services in the US and not know that Dell is one of the big 3 PC and server vendors in the US market???
