Your cautionary comment about West Elm's five-month delivery made me laugh! I ordered the Andes bed from them last fall. NINE months later, I'm still waiting for it to be delivered, with no end in sight. I'll be lucky to get it by Fall. Five months would've been a dream! Unless you order a piece they already have in stock (limited fabrics, certain leg options, etc), prepare to go without your furniture for up to a year. Don't believe the online delivery estimate window. When I ordered, the original estimate was for December 2021 delivery.

I bought a sectional queen sleeper sofa from Ethan Allen 20 + years ago. I had it covered with a heavy Italian Robert Allen tapestry patterned fabric. I still have it. I had the pullout bed replaced. This was a costly sectional bc of the sleeper part and the fabric. But it has survived cats children and many sleep overs for twenty years. It is in a den where the tv is. Very well used piece of furniture. My college aged son loves this sofa. Many Fortnite games played while sitting on it in middle school and high school. My daughter watched many movies with multiple friends sitting on this sofa. This sofa is in a high profile part of the house. It is not hidden in a basement. I told my husband this is it. We are never going sofa shopping again 20 years ago. He figured it was worth the price if he never had to buy another sofa. 😂😂😂Buy good and hold. Don’t go cheap on a sofa!

I really enjoyed this video, Kiva. Very informative. A few years ago, I bought the Radley sectional and storage ottoman from Macy's in dark gray for my son. It is comfortable and has held up well. Fortunately, I did not experience any delivery issues with Macy's. With respect to Pottery Barn and West Elm (which are under the Williams Sonoma umbrella), I have been waiting for a chair for seven months from Pottery Barn and have now been told that it will be at least another month. Same with West Elm. I ordered two chairs from them mid April and was advised that the earliest delivery date will be mid-September. Knowing their delivery record, I will be lucky to receive them before the end of the year. I am a long time Pottery Barn customer, but after I receive my chairs, that is it. I will no longer purchase any furniture from either West Elm or Pottery Barn. Customer service is the worst and quality has declined. So disappointing.

I've been loving my KIVIK sofa. Was available in a nice charcoal color in my neck of the woods (Japan). Comfortable sofa for lounging and I can't count how many times I've fallen asleep on this couch and woke up feeling great (bad habit I know). Thanks always for your great videos!

I loved the look of that that Plush sofa, so I went to look and it's $2000! Then I realized I was looking at the big sofa, not the 2-piece sectional that you pictured, and that is $1300 and is now saved for when it's time to get a sofa this fall/winter. The Big Sur is SO COMFY! I love that you can get 3 cushions, since I like turning and rearranging my cushions all the time so they don't develop dips.

2 years later----Still enjoy the honest reviews esp delivery/customer service---WHY is that Rocket Science? One Note: Careful to calculate costs + risks of storing items for a future time/place. Storing is expensive x months x years x insurance. Risks include damp, damage, infestations. Sometimes letting go or loaning it out Options: Even cleaning + reupholstering a sofa loaned to a friend (not stored) is comparable $$$. If stored, be sure to photograph, insure full replacement $$; check storage unit at regular intervals--don't assume unit is dry, safe, etc.

Great video. The con of getting a sofa and then needing to return it is super important to think about. Recently I purchased a sofa for my Alaskan condo. Obviously, it is important to buy furniture locally and not online so companies like Amazon or Ikea were out. And none of the furniture stores you talk about have locations in Alaska. So, I went with Ashley Furniture. I wanted to find a reasonably priced sectional that could be made into a bed and I thought I found the perfect one at Ashley after sitting in it for like a second. Then I got it delivered and it was incredibly hard and uncomfortable and I had to return it. So, I called and spoke to their manager who cheerfully told me it could be returned and I found a much more comfortable sofa (but not a sectional). I was so happy to find a furniture store with such good customer service.

I had three IKEA Kivik chaise loungers I put them all together to make a huge hang out for us all to watch movies and everyone loved them! We used them to death for 5 years and they held up to kids, dogs, adults sleeping on them overnight lol Best purchase for the $ I ever had!!
