SPSS Bangla Tutorial 👉 Correlation Analysis

In this SPSS beginner tutorial, we have discussed the procedure correlation analysis between two variables.

A correlation is a statistical device that measures the strength or degree of a supposed linear association between two or more variables.

One of the more common measures used is the Pearson correlation which estimates a relationship between two interval variables.

Our research question was "Is there a relationship between academic performance and internet access?".

5:20 You can't explicitly say without any context that if you get this range of value then your correlation is strong or low based on certainlevel of significance. Because this depends purely on context and it isn't anything but a mere scale of percentage that range from 0% to 100%. A 0.2 correlative factor can be a great deal, or nothing in some context. A 0.8 correlative factor can also be a great deal or nothing in another context. The correlative factor is relative to different situations.

Thanks for this nice video ? I have some questions in my mind . As far I know Pearson correlation is recommended to find correlation between two quantitative/continuous variables (As SD can not be derived from categorical data). May be you have considered "active" as a quantitative variable here. can 5 point Likert scale be treated as quantitative data rather than ordinal categorical data ? It would be very nice if you can give me the reference ? Does not spearman suit better here?
